  • I thought you couldnt tip dealers individually? When i hit bbj at fallsview i couldnt tip the dealer specifically which was lame. ended up just dumping $250 down the 2/5 rake hole and left. Even though poker dealers prolly barely noticed it...

i guess the $200 max thing is a WPT specific tipping kinda thing?
  • After the last WPT Fallsview champion's celebration dinner, we walked to the poker room and started asking about tipping. He found out the best way to tip in Ontario - AGCO (nothing to do with WPT) allows up to a $200 non-cash gift to each non-supervisor employee. He decided to give a gift card for the maximum $200 to every dealer during the WPT event, so the dealers who had volunteered to be in the WPT pool were ecstatic. The AGCO later only allowed merchandise and disallowed gift card or certificate as an option.

So next time you and I share the big BBJ or go heads-up in a WPT Fallsview event, the following is what I would do. First calculate what percentage of my winnings I will tip. Then I will allocate the $200 allowed for every dealer that was involved (BBJ or WPT dealer pool) and give the rest in general tips. So I would buy as close to $200.00 after taxes in merchandise from the Niagara Falls Target or other store that issues a gift receipt. Each dealer will then have the option of exchanging the $200 worth of merchandise for what he/she wants. For the remaining tips, I will just keep handing out the bills to any poker dealer or other employee who has ever given me satisfactory service until all my tips are gone.

Anybody else willing to do the same if you win a WPT Fallsview event?

  • Ahhh ok. Weird weird system, like almost unnecessary in traditional canadian casino fashion.

Now that I know this, yeah i would do that for sure, but ill cross that bridge if and when it comes.
  • Ill be playing both Super Sats.

    No.
  • Add me to the 2500 list also as a secured my seat in that event, now I can focus on the 5K which is going to be difficult until 1k sells out they are having trouble filling the satellites for the larger events, the list is long but no one comes when they run them, I was seated at a 550 this week and they called us and no one else came so they gave up and switched it to a 125$. They are pushing the them and I am impressed, it is greatly improved compared to prior years,And speaking of tipping when you win a 1k or 2.5k seat, tip the dealer guys, remember you just turned 250$ into 1.1k /2.5k its a nice profit ,pay it forward.

Done. Were you one of the ~four winners of only a couple of $500+$50 turbos that have ran so far?

+1. I started tipping after I won more than one $1K entry and while compuease WAS making silly "cheap" jokes, I think you, Monoxide and I are among the small fraction who tip anything in a non-cash game. Maybe that's one of the reasons why we keep "getting lucky" and winning? ;)

I remember the last time the WPT satellites were held, I was heads-up for another $10,000 WPT NAPC entry and was a huge favourite in the critical all-in hand, but villain was dealt one of his few outs; the dealer later confirmed that the villain who luckboxed into the $10,000 win never tipped a single ¢. ??? I think I won one or two more after that, and tipped at least $100 each time.
  • hoping to play the $1k event
  • Let me know when you have won a satellite & I'll add you to the list.

When you're back from the Bahamas, my advice is to get your $1,100 entry card ASAP as there is a possibility that the sales may be cut off soon.
  • Just got notice that my super satty tickets are in. I will be playing in both.
  • BF, can you add me to the Super Satellite for the $5k event?

    Thanks,
    PDT
  • I'm in the 1100 plus the two mega's
  • I got my 1k seat today. If I dont have to be in Montreal on Friday I'll be in the 5k super.
  • 2.5k, will prob buy soon.
  • Unlike the $1,100 and $275 tournaments, there are still a lot of entries left for the $2,500. I keep getting offers from satellite winners to buy their $1,050, $2.5K & $5K wins at huge discounts, but I'm not looking to buy.

    Updated OP from everybody's posts.

How much are these people selling for? I'm still not sure if I'm going to be able to play (might do a trip to Argentina that week) but I'd be interested in buying the 1k one at least, especially since I hear it's pretty close to selling out.
  • As always, YMMV.
The $1,100 entry card (Event #1) is the exception to the other three satellite prizes as there is usually somebody that wants to BUY everybody's $1,100 but very few looking to sell. It does not make sense to me why someone would want to sell it early at a discount when it will 100% sell out.

  • in >:D

for the 1.1k the 2.5k and the $550 satt
  • I sold all my 1k entries for 1000 and 950 I know every one says i am nuts but I hate to try and sell tickets 3hrs before tourney I don't need that stress before I play, plus your all welcome because I sold them to my friends who are not very good! And Honestly I am not comfortable trying to sell them to people I don't know so my friends actually did me a favour. I end up playing the satellite while waiting for the 5/2.5 satellites out of boredom, I do not enjoy cash poker so rather than sit on the rail for 6hrs I played other satellites. I am waiting for 1.1k to sell out so they will increase the frequency of the 5k satalites.

Yes, you're nuts but thank you for selling yours to bad players. >:D Should I sell my extra to the worst players I know instead of pro friends?

+1,100! I also prefer the sats for the $5K & $2.5K, but they keep running the $245 sats., so what are we going to do? ;)
  • Im more interested in knowing what I could get a 2.5k seat for right now (discount mentioned?)
  • Got my 2500 last year for 2100 a few weeks before but asking around last night only people selling were 1050 for the 1100 and nobody was selling 2500 or 5k. I will try to buy a cheapie again friday.
  • yea ive been holding off buying the 2.5k yet even tho i fully intend to. im kinda hoping i can get some sort of deal when it gets really really close to the event date. even to save a few hundred, i mean you got yours for $2100... thats such a good deal lol id imagine thats a rarity?
  • We could try and get a 2 for $4000 deal if someone had 2 and didn't want to fool around.

I know thats wishful thinking, but a guy can dream.
  • one timeeeee
  • In for the $1100...didn't even know that you could pre-register for the sattys.
  • Wow wee. Took a beating like a red headed step child tonight.

Fired three full bullets in the 5-10 game and got smashed.

First bullet uneventful just a few crap hands.

Sencond bullet I run pocket kings into quad 3s on a very dry board second 3 hit the river.

Third bullet ran KK into AA on a AK4 board, the hand before i had the pocket aces.

Just a bad night, maybe i could have got away from the quad 3 hand but i am not that good.

Saw Mr Blondfish on the next table, he was running much better than i was tonight.
  • I got my $1100 seat, I'm already paying the markup on this tournament. Payed $1122 using my cc to buy in.
