Skrill (Moneybookers) to stop processing gaming transactions for Canadians Jan. 2

Comments

  • Haven't used it, but was planning to. Pretty sure a bunch of others on this forum do now. This can't be good news.
  • Should I withdraw my entire balance just like I did from poker sites on Black Friday, or is it safe to leave it on Skrill?
  • fuck that.:bs:

damn, yeah we might have to withdraw everything now just in case. that sucks too.
  • Just do what I did and open a separate bank account for poker and do direct deposits and withdrawls to that account.

I would withdraw all your online money and skrill account before Jan. 2 just in case. Why take the chance ?

that's a good idea. i already have an old account that i don't really use anymore and was just too lazy to go close, so maybe i'll start using that one.

i figured i'd withdraw all my skrill money. should i be withdrawing funds already on stars and tilt too? i don't see that being a problem, but i've only ever used skrill/moneybookers to deposit in the past so maybe if i try to withdraw it'll default to skrill and cause problems maybe. idk.
  • if you want to avoid skrill make a deposit from a bank account then email PS and ask them to allow you to w/d via bank and not skrill.

YES! Get it off of there, Don't know why people still trust skrill with all the issues over the years and even more when it's been like 2 years now that they were pulling from the Canadian market.
  • I just tried to follow D. Negreanu's advice by withdrawing my entire Skrill balance via bank transfer to my TD U$account. After noticing a rip-off withdrawal fee just like PartyPoker, :rage: I tried entering TD's 8-digit Routing Number in the "Bank/sort code" field, but Skrill keeps saying "Invalid entry". Does anybody know what I should put for TD or how many digits that field should be?

Pretty sure you have to have done a deposit via that method previously to now withdraw. How did you initially fund Skrill?

It was through some forumer with > $100,000 in his balance! ;)

I think I went through the procedure of verifying my U$ bank account as Skrill gives me two options for withdrawing: bank transfer or cheque (takes up to 10 days, slightly higher fee). Has anybody ever had problems depositing a Skrill U$ cheque to their bank?
  • Skrill doesn't have a problem with the SWIFT code I entered. I know that the 8-digit Bank Routing Number consists of the 3-digit institution number followed by 5-digit transit number, but Skrill keeps giving me the error message for whatever I enter for "Bank/sort code".

    no you don't.
and here are the swift codes.
  • we'll see, I know back in the moneybooker days, say 2008-9, I couldn't until I had. I had $3K. there I wanted to withdraw and ended up sending it back to Stars, playing with it for weeks, then getting stars to send me a check... Perhaps it changed when they became Skrill? Just way too tough/inconvenient/risky playing online these days for the few that are winners and want to withdraw. I sense another FT fiasco coming...

Skrill refused to send me a cheque, I had to use bank transfer. I can't remember what I used for all the codes.
  • F*CK Skrill! They put so many roadblocks in withdrawing my entire balance. After I finally break their "Da Vinci Code," they ask for a credit card for which they will charge the already deducted fee from instead of my account, which means that I will be left with a balance!

Will the following work in unblocking Skrill's rip-offs?

    1) Wait for a PokerStars reload bonus code.
    2) Figure out the deposit amount that I will need to take maximum advantage of the bonus.
    3) Withdraw from Mother-F***ing Skrill everything except the PokerStars amount.
    4) Once I get my Skrill funds, transfer the balance to PokerStars before January 2, 2014.
    5) I may try to go Supernova, but I hope Skrill plunges into a black hole!

  • Stars doesn't offer that many reloads. Usually just around scoops/wcoops, so I wouldn't count on it. If they do, the max bonus usually requires a $600 deposit.

If you actually play on Stars, I don't see why you don't just deposit your entire skrills account into Stars. They offer options that are convert usd/cdn at rates pretty much the same as xe.com and most deposit/withdraw options have no transaction fees.
  • That's what I'm doing. Most on stars/ft, some on party 888 and bet fair.
  • If they do, the max bonus usually requires a $600 deposit.
With the Skrill deadline coming up on January 2, I'm thinking of transferring my entire 4-digit Skrill balance to PokerStars. If the live casino tournaments continue to be too juicy to pass up and end up hardly playing at PokerStars, will I have problems to withdraw my money by US bank transfer or cheque since I have only used Skrill/Moneybookers before?
  • Better stop thinking and start doing because you can only send $1000 per day. Just finished emptying my skrill account today. The cutoff on pstars is dec.31.
  • Yikes! Ready to click "Submit" for the max. $1K before midnight. Is there any better bonus code than 'SKRILLEPT' for the $11 EPT entry? With the '100K' bonus code, I don't want to be stuck playing four freerolls every day.

  • Just message stars and ask to up your deposit limit. They answer right away.
  • Why the f!@# is stars telling me to sign up for a moneybookers account in the withdrawal screen.:o That's pretty bad stars, lol.

Thankfully all other deposit options were available for the rest of my withdrawal as they should be since you know my last deposits were by those options.:rolleyes2:
  • After I got a message from PokerStars that I have to wait at least 24 hours before doing another Skrill withdrawal, I had to scramble with the New Year's Eve deadlines:

    - After I registered for all the WPT satellites at Fallsview, I had to activate my top-up card with Speakout before the deadline.
    - After having dinner with friends in my new favourite restaurant, CopaCabana Brazilian Steak House with Brazilian dancers, >:D my next deadline was 9 PM to watch the first NYE fireworks, so I paid for the taxi to take us back to Fallsview only a couple of blocks away, but it would have been faster to walk as I've never seen so many police and other cars being used as roadblocks for every street, parking lot and hotel!
    - With PokerStars' time restriction, I had to leave the poker room and find a wifi spot to use my Android tablet. I was able to make my maximum Skrill transfer before my next deadline of midnight, when I watched the NYE countdown and the multiple fireworks displays at Skylon Tower, Seneca Casino, and the Canadian and US sides of The Falls.
