  • 1. Buy all of my poker books. Especially the ones by cloutier.
  • get some tracking software if you don't have it already and actually use it to go over your play.

read a lot of poker books. just to make some suggestions: in general read "the theory of poker" by sklansky. for cash games read "harrington on holdem". for tournaments read "winning tournaments one hand at a time".

you can download a bunch of books for free if you don't want to buy them all.
  • Alright thanks, where is a safe place to download them?
  • i use thepiratebay.sx

here's a link to 65+ poker ebooks. enjoy!

65+ Poker Strategy EBooks Collection (Doyle Drunson, Dan Harring (download torrent) - TPB

EDIT: you'll need a torrent program though like utorrent.
  • I personally LOVE poker books, as that is how I learn best. Others take in information more readily via video instruction. You may wish to look into that aspect of training as well. Good luck . . .
  • Just play for play chips. You'll thank me later and so will your wallet.
  • One of the things Colin408 will have to learn is how to recognize sarcasm in forums. Do NOT waste time reading books by TJ "My WSOP bracelet went to craps" Cloutier or Phil "my books are almost as good as me" Hellmuth. :D

Is this supposed to be a glowing endorsement of reading poker books?

May have the opposite effect if people have ever played with you.

    :arghh:
  • find a forum where you can discuss poker
  • don't play for play chips. it isn't real poker.

play for stakes big enough to mean something but small enough that losing a couple buy ins won't dishearten you.

associate with a few others of like minds who want to improve their poker.

take a break if it isn't fun

    brace yourself
  • figure out fed’s latest user name and be sure to ignore him

+1. Try to find a poker forum where moronic posts like the one below are not tolerated in a poker thread. :rage:

    how to start a trend?

There was a french fry commercial a long time ago with the tag line "Mikey likes it". Once it aired, everyone was saying it. Thats a trend I think.

SNL did a scene about Mikey Ditkas bears and everyone started saying "DA BEARS", that was kind of a trend.

Mikey the situation started fistpumping on TV and that was trendy for a bit.

Mikey Tyson bit someones ear off. That one didnt trend so much.

    I dont have anything else.
  • Get a coach, join an instructional site, or both.

Failing that, post a lot of hands.

    Discussion.

    So you do mean 'thread'

What would you like to discuss exactly? Notsureifserious...

Go to the relevant section (e.g., click on "Online Poker Talk" or Online Poker Talk), then click on ">> New Thread". If it is about poker, be ready with your Russian asbestos suit, as you may be met with flames, trolls & personal insults.
    Da, da, Canada. ;)
