Ceasars Windsor Bday TR
My wife and I last minute decided to give them a call and see if they would comp us a room for my Bday. They said sure, and we threw some things in a bag and headed out down the 401. She doesn't play poker, but has some work she needs to get done on her computer and says she wont mind loafing around in those comfy rooms for the evening.
After checking in and a quick stop by the poker room to get the format for the tournament of the day (it starts at 8:15, $65 buy in, 20 min blinds for first 3 levels, then 30 min. He says it usually has around 40 runners paying top 5, around a grand to win.) We head up to the room to catch the end of the Nascar race, some room service and a little cardio.
After placing my ridiculously large bet (well large for me) $250 on the Indy/Houston over. I normally bet $25 units, but hit a crazy parlay in the early games for $450 so WTH. I walk into the poker room and they seat me right down at one of the five $1-3 tables they have going. Forty four players in the tourney by the way.
First hand sets the pace for the night really. Im dealt 9h 10h in the cut off with my posted blind. Two limpers, I check, button raises to ten. We all call blinds included. Flop 9d 10d 2c, checked to raiser, he bets 10 again lol. Everyone calls, I make it 75, button takes forever then finally calls, the rest fold. Turn 3h. Button looks at me and says Im calling whatever u bet. I say ok Im all in, he looks at the pot and says I guess I have too, he rolls Ad 8d… river you guessed it, 7d…. wonderful start, reload after the first hand?
A few orbits later and a couple uncontested preflop raises I get dealt KK in the BB. This super tight literally falling asleep guy wakes up, again literally, with a hand on the button and shoves his last $68, I call as well as one other… hmmm. Flop Kd 4h 7d. I check, the other guy jumps up and says Im all in. Really… Im thinking, shoving on the flush draw?? He has my $150ish covered. I call. He rolls his flush draw, the all in snoozer has JJ and my set holds!!! A nice pot that puts me back above even.
An hour or so later was an interesting hand. Button raises to 20, BB raises to 42 another guy calls, button re raises to 84. After a couple minutes BB says all in. The other dude lifts his sunglasses and says matter of factly I have the winning hand Im all for my last 48 bucks. BB mistakenly turns over his KK before the button calls…. Oh my the table gasps, lol. Cocky sunglasses dude claps and says whoo hoo, button says hang on hang on I might still call. After a lengthy thinking session the guy says I call and rolls over QQ?? Sunglasses rolls over 5h 7h and says there it is, the winner folks!!! Sure enough 57 holds up and he wins a monster pot!!! Really big because the dumbass dealer ships the entire pot his way, she didn’t separate the side pot, in all the drama with buddy calling with his queens she accidentally raked it all into one pot. Of course BB with his kings is yelling hey hey some of that is mine?!?!? Floor of course is called, they don’t trust the entire tables recount of the amounts in question and say we will consult the surveillance video. A half hour later we are still all sitting there wondering what could possibly be taking so long. Finally they accept our numbers and give the guys their proper money. One of the weirdest hands I have witnessed in a while. #1 crazy hand is still the two ace of spades showing up at the showdown of a hand at the Venetian I was in…..
Its now about three hours in, the Colts have just scored making my over bet good and some drunk roofer guy sits down in seat 4. He says I hope this table is not as stupid as that one over there I just left. He posts his blind UTG to see some cards he says. 4 or 5 limp in with him. Flop AKQ rainbow, blinds check, roofer says Im all in, then laughs like only a drunkin roofer can… same dude that called with his QQ vs KK says I’ll call you sheepishly. Roofer flopped the nuts and the gambler called with AJ?? Roofer doubles up first hand and announces he will buy the table a round. Its funny how people are, there were only two of us drinking beer until the roofer showed up, but with his generosity all but one ordered an alcoholic beverage including two pinacolada’s?? lol
Another couple of hours of some of the donkiest poker I have seen in a while. I decide I’ve listened to the drunkin roofer long enough and decide to go see if my gambling luck will continue at the craps table. Finished the session down four bucks though.
My Bday weekends luck did in fact continue. A long run of someone said 32 rolls, most of which were 6’s or 8’s ended my craps session up a couple hundred bones pass line, 6 and 8 are all I play while playing craps….
Up to the room I go to find my wife after finishing the few hours of work she had to get done for today has passed out and is not waking up for nothing…. I guess that’s the end of the run of luck huh?
