happy halloween! (share a ghost story)
was bored and thought it'd be fun if we all shared some of our ghost stories with each other for halloween. i have a couple (one personal and one from a friend of the family). nothing crazy scary though. please share your own!
story #1:
this first one takes place in my house when i was young (still in elementary school). my parents and sister had just left the house to go out somewhere. i was sitting in the living room watching tv (on one of those black and white tvs with like a 10" screen). the way my living room was set up, you could see up the stairs into the hallway. the bathroom was on the left with the door facing the opposite way away from me. the light from the bathroom could be seen reflecting on the wall at the top of the stairs from where i was sitting.
while sitting there alone, i thought i heard a noise upstairs. when i looked up i swore i could see what looked like shadows moving in the light from the bathroom. at first i thought it was just a trick of the light since i knew for sure no one was home as they had all just left. i got up and walked to the bottom of the stairs and i was about to venture up to check it out when suddenly i heard the shower turn on with the door still open! being a kid of maybe 11 or 12, i friggin' ran out of the house so fast and took off to my friend's place. we both came back soon after to check stuff out. everything was normal and no one was home still. scary as shit to me at the time.
story #2:
this is an account from a friend of the family that used to own a restaurant in ancaster (it's still there on wilson street and still allegedly haunted - i forget the name though but i can find out if you're really interested). this guy had owned this restaurant for years and his employees had complained about it being haunted multiple times (things being moved, voices, and even seeing ghosts!). the owner, however, had never witnessed anything for years and just thought the employees were being paranoid.
one night it was just the owner and one of the waitresses who were closing up the restaurant. the owner told the waitress to go lock the front door and he'd go clean up behind the bar. shortly after, while the owner was cleaning, he looked up and saw a man walking through the restaurant, passed the bar and into the back where the bathrooms are. the owner immediately went to find the waitress to inquire as to why she hadn't closed the front door. her response was that she had. the both of them, obviously perplexed, went back to the washrooms to find the man to see who it was. well, they couldn't find anyone back there. the owner actually ended up selling the restaurant shortly afterwards
does anyone have a good one to share? let's hear it!

Over the next hill, I see a pair of headlights heading straight towards us, in our lane !! He was passing another car on the hill and just got into his lane, missing our car by inches. He had the interior light on and I could see him smiling or laughing, that's how close we were. I pulled over, white as a ghost, when my wife woke up and asked me what happened. Don't know who the voice was but I was glad I listened.
Well now we know why you always get screwed on the river. You've used up your rungood for this lifetime!
just watched the elevator video. yeah that's creeps.
i actually had a somewhat similar experience as a kid that this just reminded me of. i was riding my bike and fooling around with my friends. i tried to do a 'wheelie' on my back tire but i pulled it too hard and felt my momentum falling backwards. in the split second before i fell backwards i was panicking because i was going to pretty much land on the back of my head and have the bike land on top of me. suddenly i swear i felt a push on my back and i was able to right myself. i slammed on the breaks and looked behind me because for a second i thought maybe someone could have possibly rode up behind/beside me at just the right time to save me. no one was there though. i was still pretty young at the time and i remember thinking that it must have been my guardian angel
My sister-in-law was baby sitting our daughter in our home. We had been on the place a little over a year. she is downstairs watching a movie, while our daughter is asleep in her room upstairs. Sister-in-law hears a door close and goes to see what is going on as the daughter's door is supposed to be left open. She gets upstairs and sees the door is closed. Opening the door brings a wave of cold air rushing out of the room. This as in August, and the A/C was NOT on.
i don't know if i believe in ghosts per se to be honest. i kind of think of it this way. humans are made of matter and energy. when we die, our physical bodies don't just disappear. they degrade, rot, and decompose and eventually go back to the earth in whatever form. well, the energy in us also doesn't just disappear when we die. something has to happen to it. i don't think it's that crazy to believe that the energy released from someone who just died could linger in the area where the death took place.
maybe if i literally saw a ghost i'd change my mind about them. however, sounds, things moving, cold gusts, etc. seem somewhat plausible to me.
Idk?
