Poker Chip Case - What Do U Prefer

I need everyone's help here.

Need to know what people prefer, chips housed in an aluminum case or chips housed in an Oak chip case. Price differential is approx. $10.

Does it matter if a set of chips come with 2 decks of cards and 5 dice. What about a chip sets with a whiskey flask instead of the cards and dice.

Let me know if there are other accessories that you prefer other then 2 decks of cards and dice and why.

Thank you in advance.

  • All depends on what you prefer and what the deal is.

I have the metal case that came with the set (which is great for traveling) but a Oak chest sure does look nice.

As for playing cards, mine came with 2 decks of faux plastic, but I went ahead and bought a set of KEM plasitc playing cards. Which cost me half the price I paid for the chips!!!!

Good luck with your purchase, let us(the forum) know how it goes.

  • Did I miss something? Is this post related to anything else?

I use these special briefcases (faux leather, thank you very much) that hold 1000 chips per.

I bang em around and they fall all over - but they are about 10 years old. I got me a new fancy schmancy metal set just to see and I truly prefer my old beat up briefcases.

I also tend to go for class, so Oak would be my preference, but that would get beaten to hell as well as scratched and dinged, so maybe I save the $10 and get a happy meal.

    I dunno
  • Metal one bangs up way to easily but until I can see the wood, SHINY things always attrack customers!

    - Shiney things always attack customers:

[The Terminator is naked after arriving in the present.]

Punk 1: Nice night for a walk, eh?

The Terminator: Nice night for a walk.

Punk 2: Wash day tomorrow. Nothing clean, right?

    The Terminator: Nothing clean, right.

    Punk 1: This guy's a couple beers short of a six-pack!

The Terminator: Your clothes. Give them to me, now.

Punk 1: Hey, fuck you, asshole!
  • i've always figured it's useless to give out dice and cards. not that cards are useless, but the ones that are often included are cheap, and i think most players have plenty. so i would love a flask instead. wait...most drinkers have flasks, so maybe cards are better...nope, flasks are unique. there was a guy out west awhile back including a cigar shaped flask that fit perfect in the cases. i've looked around for one but could only find a set that had the flask and a cigar holder.

and if the price is pretty close, an oak case is nice to have displayed at home, and a metal one for travel.
  • I had the metal cases before but sold them when I bought my oak case. I perfer the oak case as it has a storage area undernearth the chip trays. It also looks much nicer and more professional than the metal cases.

I didn't really care if it came with cards, dice or flask. Most people will switch the cards with better ones anyway.

Here's a similar pic of what I have.

  • Since Kem have shutdown and have been aquired by US Card Game, a pack of "original" Kem cards would be nice.
  • I just realized something - why the heck don't people just make chip cases to hold chips? Why must they hold cards and flasks and dice (who shoots craps with their friends anyhow?) and all the other crap. Just get cases that hold an extra 2 or 3 rows of chips!
  • Oak would be nice for a change. In a year or less garage sales will be flooded with metal cased chip sets..
  • I'm fairly new to poker, but I like my metal case. I intentially bought one with cards. Not for the cards itself, but for a place to hold the cards. I bought a few extra decks right after I bought the chip set. When I bring my chips to a friend's house, it's easier to just carry one case for everything. But if you're only intention is to keep them at home then I see why you wouldn't want a place to hold cards and just chips. The dice I couldn't care less about.

Oak cases are nice, but like someone above, i like shiny metal stuff. I can put ricer stickers on it, a wing, rims and stuff and it'd look pretty cool :p.
  • Hey guys I was wondering what's a good place to find poker supplies online (Canada) or somewhere in Vancouver? I'm kinda new to this and would like to get started with a small setup.
    Thanks
