  • Interesting (and not good) that they got your gmail account. Just for safety sake, I'd consider removing the link from this post just in case. I'd also consider changing your pwd on here.

Actually, I just noticed you had your email address in your last bap thread. I'd bet that's what the link will lead to and they're going to bug you for money or something.

Might consider pulling your email address from that thread as well.
  • Got the same message.
  • Me too but they used an email that I don't even have associated with the forum. Weird.
  • I got the same email
  • Ok, this is now officially weird.

Can the above confirm that the emails they got originated from the email address that DJ mentioned?
  • Hmmm, looking at it now... Will try to contact Scoops although if it is not email addresses associated with your accounts here then likely someone here has had their email compromised and they have all the rest of us in their address list. FYI, I haven't received anything like this.
  • I did not receive such an email. It could have come from an account that has all of woog30, moose, djgolfcan and SteveKerr in their email list, but not the 2 moderators or me.

As I said above, someone possibly has had their email addy compromised. Difficult to tell from here but it looks likely that the addresses may have been "farmed" from posts on here since there is a reference to pokerforum.
Quite a common occurrence actually. If it was someone's email hacked then this is being sent out to people in their address list. Will likely never find the source.
  • If moose & SteveKerr can confirm that they have posted in this forum the email address that the spammer used, then it's probably a bot that farmed the emails. I can see that woog30 & djgolfcan had posted an email address.

Steve, DJ, and Woog have already been confirmed as having posted their email addy's here by our super sleuthing mod wildbill so that is likely the cause. We couldn't find any evidence of Moose posting his. Since Moose got one on an address he hasn't used here then likely someone has had their email address compromised as well, likely by clicking on a link. Whomever this is, likely has a lot of us in his address book. Trick is now how to find out who this may be. Suggest anyone who suspects anything change both their email password and their pokerforum password and make sure they are different. (and NOT 123)

Took less than 3 minutes, and I lack the processing power of a bot.

They seemed to be appearing in bap threads for the purposes of EMT. I would suggest the regs in the bap threads contain these to private messages in the future. Just a suggestion, fill your boots otherwise.
  • They sent to a hotmail account. The email I have associated to pokerforum is a pokerforum email Addy.

Is there a chance you've ever posted the hotmail addy on the forum?
  • If I ever did, it wouldn't have been a full addy. There is the email list I use for my cash games, but woog30 isn't on it. There is buzzzardds email list, but I don't think I am on that one.

I just checked my pokerforum email but it hasn't received anything since 2010.
  • Can someone forward me the email in question. admin ..at.. this site domain.

    thanks
  • I got the same email in my gmail account which is not the email account I have associated with this site. It seemed fishy but I saw that it was linked to a site related to pokerforum.ca so I did click it. It just directed me to a site here which said the topic was non-existent or something like that so I just closed the window and deleted the email.
  • Can you please change your password here.. I would assume this is similar to the last time this happened and clicking that link could possibly capture your username and password.
  • Tony, have you ever posted this address on the forum or in a private message to another member on the forum?
  • I need to know the link there using..Someone forward me the email or pm me the link url without clicking it.
  • Tony, have you ever posted this address on the forum or in a private message to another member on the forum?

    Not that I know of.

Password changed. I would send you the email but I deleted it from my spam which means it doesn't go to my deleted folder, it just disappears.
  • Sent to you Scoops
  • thanks..This is the same as the previous pm spam.

Tonychanman: Make sure if the previous password was used at other forums or poker sites that you change it there also.

Will be in contact with certain members via pm who may have clicked this link.

No, woog would be the only one from this group on my email. Also, I have not received the message.
  • I got it and I've posted my addy. Trashed it right away though
  • I reported the scammer site to the hosting provider and it is now offline.

Seems the emails were collected from forum posts so I would suggest never posting any email address on the forums.
