  • Regular questions:

How much of the buy in is going back to the prize pool? If not all, where is the rest going?

Structure, ie blind levels and length?

How many are you really expecting?

Just noticed, 80 players at $50. each means $4,000. $1,000 to top 5 players, where does the other $3,000. go?
  • sounds like a charity/fundraiser thing
  • sorry I guess I should have included that infomation....

this poker tournament is a fundraising event for a local hockey team
the break down is as follows.......

    10.00 prize money
    7.50 food for players
10.00 rental of hall, liquor licence, bartenders
    2.50 incidentials

    payout is 1st-40%, 2nd-25%, 3rd-20%, 4th-10%, 5th-5%

    $2000.00 in chips to start
    increasing blinds throughout the night
buy-ins unlimited in first hour if your under $500 in chips
3- 20 min rounds in first hour....15 min break
one time only add-on per player in second hour
25 dollars gets $2000.00 in chips
40 dollars gets $4000.00 in chips
    15 min break
play till the end with increasing blinds every 12-15 MINS
  • Good luck with it, however your likely only going to get people with an association with the team to come as a poker player (with no association) is not really going to want to play as it is a complete luck fest. I went to one a few months ago for my grandson's rep ball team and it was similar. I managed to final table but it was pure luck, very little skill involved other than push chips in.. ;) You just have to consider these types of events a donation..

Hopefully you raise lots of money, I know we did well. GL.

Maybe it's $1000 EACH to the top 5 and they're very generous or bad at math, or both!
  • Wow. Only $10 of your $50 goes towards the prize pool?

Good luck with your event, these things usually do make a lot of money but they don't bring in people like us on the forum looking for a poker game.

    Blondefish, you in?

    Lol

Has to be +ev considering charity events are usually quite fishy.
  • Sorry, that weekend I'll probably be at WSOP-C Lac-Leamy, WPT Montreal, or grinding the Fallsview Poker Classic high-rake crapshoots. :-\

  • I would go if the prize pool was bigger.
