Ron Rose's "laugh" & other thoughts from this
Did anyone catch Ron Rose laughing (I use the term loosely) after one if his interview segments? That was not a laugh. It was more like the last dying sound of a small bird after it had been run over by a lawn mower.
A couple of other random thoughts:
During an interview segment, X22 claimed to be *acting* like a weirdo on purpose at the table. Sure. A guy who plays a 64 player backgammon tournament by himself couldn't possibly just *be* a weirdo. I'm sure his acting like a weirdo is a big stretch.
Again X22. Mike make some comment to the effect that "these guys can't figure out what he has". This was only 2 or 3 hands after X22 was picked off by Le (the smiley pit boss guy) who had A8 (versus 72 all-in for X22-- "quack quack"). You don't think the A8 had some kind of a read there?
Man, X22 and Ron "I'll stand up and walk away from the table when I have a good hand" Rose were tell machines.
I liked that Cal guy (who had previously had a fairly solid poker face) giving off a false tell on the very last hand. He must have figured out that he (Cal) did have the best hand with middle pair after Rose was thinking for so long, so he started noticably squirming around attempting to look nervous to try to induce a bad call from Rose (which did end up happening).
Why is Vince Van Patten married to JTs? That hand generally sucks in short-handed no-limit.

Remove any one of the:
X22
"Quack Quack"
the nose
the tongue thing
the very bad teeth
and he becomes tolerable, maybe even interesting to watch.
He was just way too distracting for me.
I like Ron Rose. I think his "get up and walk away when he has a good hand" wasn't so much a tell since he did it every time he went all in. I think this is not so bad. At least he was consistent about it.
hork.
Well, I suppose just the getting up part is fine, but I'm not too sure he was consistent when he actually did get up. Sometimes he was pacing around, other times he stood still and was watching the table a bit more closely. He was smart in using the fact that this was a TV production though--- because of the lighting, it would be difficult for the other players to see him when he wanders away from the table.
If I was an opponent in a hand and Ron walked away from the table, I'd probably get up too and walk over to him to see what his reaction would be. I wonder if he'd just walk out of the entire casino or something.
Then he is basically sitting there doing nothing? I agree that this would be much more tolerable. 8)

what was up with the "Quacking"? the guy seems like a NUT
he should be wearing a duck suit
Nah, he's got plenty left if we removed those traits. He'd still be saying weird things. Also, going all in on 7-2 off, or calling other players' all-in raises with K-6.
I was thinking that removing one of them would make him watchable. As it is, with all of them combined, I really had a hard time keeping focused on the poker part of the show.
hork.
