What's it like?
Hey Dave,
I was wondering what your thoughts are on what it's like to be a 40 year old.
If you'd like, you can get back to me on this in a few days.

I stopped myself from my first instinct... deleting ScottyZ's post altogether.

Sorry.
Happy early birthday!
I just realized that I never put my own birthday on this forum. You can get your revenge in 2014.

Thirty is a great age because you are still "in touch" with 20 year olds. You can go to the bar and not be "the creepy leering old guy." Yes, it's not until thirty that you are welcomed into the fraternity of "grown ups." Fifty year olds begin giving you some respect for knowing something about the world.
At forty, I have lost touch with university freshmen. There are a lot of noticeable age gaps -- mostly pop culture references.
I was a TA for a 2nd year course, and made some quick joke using New Kids on the Block as part of the subject material.
Blank stares.
My response was somthing like, "I must be getting old." One of the students asked what year I was in. I thought on it for a moment, and replied, "Ninth."

You can't walk around with blinders on and then exclaim, "I can't see!".
At least you didn't mention The Monkeys.
Cheer up sleepy Jean lol

I make my living being all over pop culture. But, there is nothing I can do to make a 19 year old understand that Jim Kirk is my moral compass.
WWJD. What would Jim do?
