Canadian Bigelow loses to Cocktail Waitress Prophecy

We almost got our 11th bracelet earlier this week, but then this happened...

Deathbed Prophecy Comes True For Victorious Cocktail Waitress

Cocktail waitress Dana Castaneda went from final table short stack to WSOP bracelet winner just as her 94 year old grandmother had predicted exactly 1 week earlier while on her deathbed.

As the final two players began heads up play, a large cheering section had gathered to cheer on Canadian Jason Bigelow in his attempt at our country's 11th bracelet, but the win and the $454,207 first prize would go to the underdog from California. Castaneda began final table play as the shortest stack but pulled off an impressive run dominating the table and winning all the chips in just 115 hands.

Castaneda cashed in the women's event earlier in the series and decided to parlay her $1,500 win into the huge $1,000 No Limit Hold 'em event. 2,883 players began the event, Castaneda finished it and took home $454,207. She's the first women to win an open event at WSOP 2013.
