average flight+hotel to vegas cost

i was hoping that some of you who have made the trip out to vegas a few times could possibly give me an average cost for flight+hotel to vegas. mostly thinking about the summer months (july-august) and probably looking to stay a week or so. i'd prefer to be on the main strip as well. also, the departure and return dates can be any time so i'll fly during the week or whatever is cheaper.

from my limited knowledge, my guess is anywhere from $500 and up per person. does that sound about right or is it possible to get a round trip for cheaper?

  • We are headed there on July 2nd-8th. We got return flights on Southwest out of Buffalo for $385 USD. I phoned Caesar's and gave my own and my buddy's Total Rewards numbers and got our stay at Harrah's for a total of $364 taxes and resort fees included. This includes keeping the room for the entire day Monday since we have a late afternoon flight. Obviously the more guys you cram into a room the less it costs. I am not cheap but I refuse to pay a different price for a room when 3-4 people stay as opposed to 2 people. What a scam! Be sure to get everyone a Total Rewards card and on checkout apply all comps earned by everyone to the total hotel bill. If you guys put in a lot of hours at the poker tables or the pit games this can drastically reduce the bill. The last time we did this with 4/room our 8 days hotel worked out to about $15 per person!
  • Spirit out of Detroit runs 200ish return, plus your bag fees. Weekday rooms at your basic casinos run <50 weekdays and easily 150+ for fri/sat. Can be higher during times of high demand, big trade shows etc. Can be lower during low season, typically 1st week of Nov and 3rd week of December.

Always book direct through casino for best rate. As grimm says, once you have a players card with some play on it, you will get far better deals. 95% of my nights in Vegas have been comped since my first trip and if I pay at all, it's for the fri or Sat. I'm a low stakes player who only plays cash games.
