Hey all,
I would just like to introduce myself to the community. After about a 10 year absenc, I have rediscovered poker fever, Texas Hold'em of course. This is primarily due to the absence of NHL Hockey this year as many I have also talked to have turned to alternative forms of sport/recreation.
I have been playing online for since the end of January and just completed my first live tournament today at the Palace Casino in Edmonton, Alberta. I managed to place 2nd amongst a total of 49 competitors. I am very proud of this accomplishment and consider myself fortunate to have done so well.
Whenever and in whatever form the NHL does return, I shall remain an avid fan and participant of the game of poker. To quote an extremely overused phrase....
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Congrats on the placing! A very good showing for a first live tourney - I am still waiting to participate in one. Soon, soon...
I am personally glad that my local poker room has large screen TVs - that way, when hockey is back on, I can watch it from the corner of my eye
