adult web content blocker?

My kid is surfing the internet and youtube now and I think I had better get a blocker of some kind so he doesn't end up seeing smut.

Any recommendations for software?

    I'd be amazed if there is an actual effective filter than any 11 year old couldn't beat. And if you remember what it was like when you were that age, it was your sole mission in life to see a pair of titties. Problem is, back then it meant finding a stash of playboys. Today it means finding a video of a chick getting fisted and poolballs shoved up her rear while taking two men in each of her other holes. The internet will be the death of society, if that isn't already apparent :(

    I'd have to agree with Superned here. I doubt there's a way to fend off, limit or corral growing hormones with the addition of software. I have no experience in raising humans, but I would think keeping the computer in a common area of the home would help. However, even this idea might be outdated with laptops, tablets, etc. in almost every kids grubby little hands.

    My little one is only 7, so he won't be actively looking for T&A for a few years yet but it's the accidental finds I was wanting to prevent. Milo, no bookmarks needed, it's all memorized!

    Only let the kid surf when you can keep a close eye on the screen also.

    A computer in a common area is the best way.. I get this question all the time from clients, trouble is there is no effective way.. There are a number of pretty good software programs but all require some effort and maintenance.. Here are three that you can try for free. Give us a review of what you try. I have not used them myself as I'm afraid I would forget the password and block myself...;)

    I personally agree with the 'no internet' sentiment. I would think the younger they start the more damaged they may be in general development...and I'm not just talking porn. I'm talking internet addiction, not being able to make one's own fun, trouble interacting with others in a real setting etc. I can't imagine what sort of misfits are going to be raised by the internet, and the immoral and unethical cesspool it is.
    I was just having this conversation the other day with someone regarding technology and people socially interacting. With every moron on the planet having a mobile device at their fingertips with all the answers, conversation and interactions have changed drastically. There is no need for debates, and people trying to figure out something with a lively conversation. Some asshole is always right there with google to put an end to it immediately. The 'de-evolution' of society is well underway. Two generations from now they'll be drooling and barely able to tie their own shoes ???

    Just as an example, go to youtube as this was the example you gave and watch 10 random videos and read the comment sections after the videos. A seven year old really shouldn't even be free to surf youtube.

    There is also a safe search setting which is usually on moderate where you can change to a strict one.
