How does online poker work

It might be a stupid question, but I want to know how does online poker work. How is it determined that i get dealt 7sQh or AsAh? i know it runs through programs, but it is something like that the cards dealt to the players and the flop turn and river are already set before the bets begin or does it keep changing until its time to be seen to the players at that moment?

    varies between sites. some establish the order of cards before the hand and play it out that way. other sites use randomly generated cards every time a card is chosen (i.e. the deck is shuffled before each card is drawn to produce complete randomness). can't remember which ones do which though.[FONT=&quot][/FONT]
