Title: Jerry Buss v. Daniel Negreanu: Negreanu Advances to Round 2
Log: In the most amazing hand of the day, Jerry Buss pushes his short stack all in with A-10, and Daniel Negreanu calls with Q-J. The flop comes 10-9-5 with two diamonds -- an excellent flop for Daniel even though Jerry makes a pair of tens. Unfortunately for him, that 10 helps give Daniel an open-ended straight draw, which he makes with the 8 of diamonds on the turn. Unfortunately for Daniel, that now gives Jerry Buss the nut flush draw, because there are three diamonds on the board, and he has the ace of diamonds. So while he's rooting for a diamond, Daniel is rooting for a specific diamond -- the jack, which will make a straight flush to his queen of diamonds. Sure enough, the jack of diamonds hits on the river, making him a runner-runner straight flush at the same time Jerry Buss makes the ace-high flush. Jerry Buss is painfully eliminated, and Daniel Negreanu advances to Round 2, where he will face the winner of the Howard Lederer/Antonio Esfandiari match.

Only Daniel N. has luck like this, this is the 2nd royal i've heard him having in tournies in the last few months.
  • Considering most of us have never had a Royal let alone a straight flush in holdem (me) that is amazing!
  • Hey Chugs, do you have a website where you're getting your info? I've just been checking Negreanu's site for the info I've got so far...
  • cardplayer.com has running updates of this event, and generally any major or even semi-major event

Huh? Doesn't he have just a puny, pathetic, Q-high straight flush? :)
