10 handed dead? 9 handed dying?

read this today and was curious. is this true? anyone know what they're talking about and care to explain?
The bottom line is that 10-handed poker is dead. Pretty soon, nine-handed poker will be dead in most formats, so making the move of adding a larger buy-in eight-handed event is an excellent addition by the WSOP and should draw a huge turnout of star-studded players.

    Well, if handed 9-play is going the way of the dodo, somebody better tell the folks at Rama.
