  • YRPL Next Event Friday May 24th 7PM Newmarket Featuring a BIG 20K stack, a BIG $50.00 Bounty, and the Big Brothers, or just THE BIG BIG BIG for short.

  • Would the forumers who have played in YRPL tourneys recommend this? It seems that the part that does not go to the players' prize pool is 12.5% (aka rake). I'm trying to decide between playing at Fallsview, Woodbine or a non-casino tourney.

  • That 12.5% includes a great dinner $10.00 and a $5.00 donation to Big Brothers.

There is no traditional aka "rake" at Rocky's tournaments. He nor anyone else makes any profit here afaik. While "technically" it may not be "legal" in this wonderful nanny state of Ontario, it is extremely well run with good people.. I haven't played often because of distance and my lack of ambition but do recommend it.
  • YRPL runs a great tournament. Dinner is worth the price! Highly reccomend.
  • Looks like a good tourney. Do you usually get a good amount of entries?
  • Where is this located?
  • Thanks for the replies. Which casinos are closest to YRPL? It is over two hours of driving round trip from Oakville so I want to know what my gambooling options are if I bust out early.
  • YRPL tournaments are very well run and a great group of people. Some winter tournaments can get up to 100 players. Rama is closest further north. Think you will pay more in gas than rake Buddy...also there is usually a RAKE FREE cash game after players get knocked out of the tournament.
  • A great night/morning at YRPL (5/24/13) for The BIG BIG BIG Event (Big stack 20k, Big bounty $50 and Big Brothers Charity $575) we had 67 entries making for a BIG prize pool. The game ended at 3:30am when a 3 way chop was decided Kevin P gave up $300 from 1st as the BIG chip leader to take home $2,700 plus 11 $50 bounties. Congratulations also to Lisa the Grinder Vey and Chris C taking $1,500 each rounding out the final table George S $680, Angelo K $560, Spanky $440, Pat M $250, Tony C $250, River Monster $250, Carl V $250. With 11 players remaining a collection was made to pay out bubble boy Don Gardiner $220. Great to see several players from The Toronto Aces Poker Club out, yawl come back now!
  • I wish I lived closer to this. Maybe one of these days I will go to one.
