  • The Horne's will be there!
  • If it is a small crowd we will start off with a BBQ.
  • Ok picked up 12 lbs of pork shoulder today.

Doors open at 4:30 pm and am offering free pulled pork sandwiches starting at 5 pm. Beyond that we'll make it a pot luck. If you want to bring something else to BBQ go ahead.

  • So this is going to happen with such few people?

    Yes

Ok thanks. We are having trouble finding a babysitter, I'll let you know if we need to bail.
  • With a small group it will be pretty casual so it won't be a problem if Junebug comes along. My son can put on Brave or something else and the kids can curl up with some popcorn. We have to take a break anyways and put our son to bed and June can use the spare bed.

That is very nice of you to offer since we cannot find a sitter.

What can we bring, besides meat for your new toy?
  • We'll go potluck. Salads, coleslaw, potato salad, desserts come to mind.
  • Couple of pork shoulders pre-rub.

Rubbed up and ready to go back in the fridge for a 24hr marinate.

Also mmoose picked up a large container of potato salad today.
  • Jo is doing homemade baked beans and a blueberry cake for dessert. Looking forward to it. We should be there around 4:45 then. Cheers, Steve
  • We're bringing a potato salad. Anything else?

    Comes to mind

Chef Michael Smith | recipe | Potato Bacon Cheddar Tart

    Seriously it's pot luck.

I was thinking that but didn't want to kill anyone.
  • Got back from Tommy last night and started up the BBQ. Temp got a little hot so didn't get it back under control until about 12:30 am and got the meat on. Got up this morning at 7:30 am and the Q was still going about 190, and the meat was at 169. Opened up the vents a bit and took the kid to hockey. Came home and it was about 280 so closed the vents down a bit. 10 hours in, the meat is at 189 and comes off in an hour or two at 195. Should hopefully come out perfect.
  • The BPC Tart is in the oven. Sorry, I forgot to take pics, but you all know what it looks like anyhow.

We are aiming to be there for 4:45.
  • Rob, I hope it is ok if I join in for the bar-b-q, and deal blackjack. I will be bringing a very boring spinach salad.
  • I am just heading out now. Will be there in about a half an hour.
  • I had meat pics to post but my hard drive crashed.
  • Thanks Rob and Fran for hosting another really enjoyable Casino Night: great food, great fun. Johnnie, you went into the roulette round in 2nd place - down less than $100 I think. You did slightly better than break even, and ended up in first place by $100 exactly. Wraychel, I did my best for you, and you won about $600 at roulette, but ended up in 3rd. I have your winnings Johnnie. Let me know when a good time to drop them off would be on Sunday or Monday.
  • Weird, I made a post last night but it seems to have disappeared.

Thanks to all for bringing the great food. The BBQ turned out great.

Johnnie wins with +$1110 for $100
    Seekthegrail was 2nd with +$1010 for $60
    Wraychel was the bubble.

I was the only one to lose at the moose casino for -$17.
  • I always thought I would run better if I let someone else play for me :D Thanks for stepping in for us, Sandy.

And thanks to The Grails and the entire Moose herd for a great night of food and gamboooling. Fran's siiick run during craps set me up for the win.

June had blast playing with miniMoose, and she loves her new booblehead!

Can't wait until the next one!

    Johnnie
