Moose Vegas Feb 2013
Dropped almost two buyins at Windsor yesterday then kicked off of the Vegas trip with Paul Anka. Not our style of music for sure but had a real old school Vegas feel to it. A true music legend but we were the youngest couple there by far.

Bingo. Moose (and yourself Johnnie) do some of the best Vegas trip reports. I have no idea how you remember so many details.

Off to UNLV tonight. Go Rebels.
Hmm...surprised. Anytime I look at the Bravo app (doing planning for my April trip), it usually only shows 1 game of 1-2NL running at any time. Maybe the app is not working for this room for some reason? What games were running while u were there?
I'm heading down in April as well and this time I'm staying at TI so I'm really hoping its a live room.
Wasn't dead in November.. I played cash there about 4 times, not a lot of tables but good action. (that I didn't have to drive)
Fri was at Caesars Windsor and picked up a $35 gas card. Sat, got $15 in slot play and spun it into a sweet $2.50. Sat night saw Paul Anka which was not my style of music but he such a great entertainer it was enjoyable overall. After the show we drove to Detroit and checked into the Days Inn in Romulus for our flight out the next day.
Sun we arrived in Vegas at 12:30, picked up the rental and drove over to the Bellagio to meet up with k9dr from Chiptalk. Unfortunately the buffet line moved slowly and we didn't feel like paying $45 for the dinner buffet. So we bailed the line and drove over to Hot and Juicy.
Anyways on with the pics.

After dinner checked in at Ballys. No go on the $20 trick. mmoose crashed and I headed to TI for the $3/6 mixed game (formerly of Quad ((formerly IP))).
Losing at TI mixed game until 4 am. But hey, free hotdog and multiple Coronas!
The giant wheel assy is coming along well at The LinQ. Last Nov, they just had the footings in.
The whole front entrance of the IP is going to be completely different.
Brunch at Hash House in IP then off to M Resort for the President's splash pot and hot seat drawings, which we got none of. Actually up at this point in this photo but later would finish under water. Sigh. At least the beer was good.
My mini mustard that I stole from TI the night before. Decided it was bad luck and stopped using for my card protector very quickly.
This time I decided to document the entire beer menu at M Resort. A lot of excellent beers in there.
Avoid the Unibroue. Reviews of the brewery were good but the beer they had was terrible. All the Canadian beers sucked.
The Italian beers were pretty good if you like lager/pilsener.
The Pear cider was really good but I didn't seem to be getting drunk. Maybe it was non-alcoholic but I forgot to ask the waitress during the trip.
Mon night I won my Leafs bet but lost $200 at craps at Joker's Wild in Henderson. We had tickets for the 10 pm Zumanity show at NYNY. Good show but not as good as Absinthe which had similar content (sexual theme) and the seating was much more intimate. Basically I assume that Absinthe stole a lot of content from Zumanity, improved on it and made a better show. Afterwards we drove over to In n Out for some midnight burgers.
Ok Tues we started out with the $2.99 two meat, two pancake, two egg breakfast at Terribles.
Then we crossed Hard Rock off the bucket list. The nl game is no cap so one guy was sitting there with over 10k and another had over a grand. The game was really aggressive. Ended shoving and losing 3 times for a $540 loss, the finale was AK into a flopped 57c flush on K high board. So yeah, lots of fun. mmoose of course would shove and get no callers and booked a $121 win.
Before busto.
So then met up with k9dr at Gordon Ramsay pub in Caesar's, which basically serves a lot of the same food as Gordon Ramsay Steak in Paris for the same price (WTF?) but without having to book 3 months in advance for a decent time.
Walked back to Ballys to play some nl. Lost some more at craps and then more at nl. Fun.
This happened to be the intersection where the very next day, that rapper guy got shot and killed in his Maserati and then crashed into a taxi cab which exploded and killed two more people. The strip was closed for something like 16 hours, including the pedestrian overpasses, so basically the entire strip was cut in half for an entire day at the busiest intersection in Vegas.
mmoose killing the 2-4 and red chips from high hand winnings.
Note the quads by mmoose actually got beat for high hand by quad 7s and then quad Js within the 30 min window.
After that we went back to Caesar's for the $1 oysters at PJ Clarke's in the forum shops. The losses were bad but fortunately not as bad as to have to fish quarters out of the Caesar's fountain. But meh.
Then we had tickets to UNLV. Great game. After building a big lead by half time, they actually fell 4 points behind and then came back to win it on their final possession. But yeah, a 2 point victory did not cover the spread. So suxors. Note: two Canadians are starting for UNLV, and one of them, a freshman is their leading scorer. Go Canada!
Then on to 1-2nl at Ballys, basically at this point hoping to save our trip by hitting the $560k BBJ. Another cash win for mmoose and of course I get dealt KK utg on my final hand of the evening. You know this doesn't end well when I flop a set and get it in three ways against a flopped straight and two pair. Sigh another $400 gone and I feel like cruising the streets in a Maserati, hoping to draw some gunfire.
So the next morning the strip was closed from the shooting/explosion. Fortunately the Bally's garage exits onto 3 different streets, two of which (Las Vegas blvd and Flamingo) were closed. We had planned to drive to the Valley of Fire anyways so it didn't really affect us other than having to detour around the mess to get on I-15.

As we headed towards North Las Vegas we pull off to visit Jerry's Nugget which has some really awesome $1 Paulsons. As soon as we get of the highway though we run into hundreds of homeless. The area has actually been named the Homeless Corridor. Apparently there is some ordinance which keeps them away from the casino's on the strip and downtown and the cops just dump them over the city line from Las Vegas to North Las Vegas.
So chips acquired, we head back north on I-15. As we head out of town, the car makes this ding sound. WTF? Read the led display under the tachometer.
Speed governor on our Mustang! Top speed 80 mph. !#$@#$^@#^@#$!%!%!%!
So anyways on to Valley of Fire. Amazing scenery. 10x better than Red Rock Canyon.
Heading into the valley.
As you can see the terrain was extremely varied and awesome drive in a Mustang convertible!
So after the drive we had back to Vegas and stop in Henderson for some more craps action at Joker's Wild. Boom, another $510 gone between the two of us. I couldn't take the losses anymore and left 9 chips short of a full rack of quarters. Sigh. Will take one more trip to get my rack filled.
Then we headed back to Ballys and had a great burger at Le Burger Brasserie, also using our comps and a BOGO coupon we scored by asking at the Total Rewards desk in Ballys.
So back to the nl tables at Ballys and I finally break the 5 day losing streak with a $306 win. However the worm turns and mmoose starts a spiral downward that ends with her being down overall on the trip.
Fri we get up and start with lunch at Big Al's Oyster Bar at the Orleans casino. Really awesome seafood chowder followed by soft shell crab sandwich.
Then back to M Resort for more beers and high hand of the 1/2 hour jackpots. We don't get any but they also start a $3 max rake nl game with $30 splash pots every 1/2 hour. This promo will run until the end of March. I book another $241 when I double through some maniac with the nut flush but mmoose takes her turn to get stacked with KK against 108 on a 1088 board as we are getting up for dinner, which puts her down for the trip. So overall we lose another $59. We had $28 in comps on our cards to use towards the buffet, so 14 hours of play each this week at M Resort.
The seafood buffet is ok but the raw oysters were all dead and completely disgusting. What a waste. Have not been to the Rio seafood buffet for a few trips but we would generally consider it a lot better than the M Resort.
After dinner we head back to Ballys. mmoose gives up and heads to bed for our flight out on Sat. I play at nl and continue the win streak for another $88 but I was playing badly on a very soft table so I cashed out, down almost 50% of the roll for the week. Sigh.
Sat we fly back to Detroit and check into our comped room at Caesar's Windsor. Sun morning we were comped two buffets, another $25 gas card and $15 in slot play. The winning continued and I played that into another $22.50.
Chipes and racks scored on this trip:
Ah Las Vegas, that sweet temptress...anyone up for Sept. 2013?
Fall in Vegas could be a possibility. Cheers, Steve
