Hollywood Poker Open Series At Casino Rama

Casino Rama has introduced a new $400 tournament series where the top three finishers will win seats to the $500,000 Hollywood Poker Open taking place at the M Resort from June 28th to June 30th. I wrote an article on this series which you can find here.

  • What is the connection between Rama and M Casino? Players at Rama can get comped rooms from M Casino.

If that's true I guess we will be driving up there!
  • How do you get comped rooms at M Resort, even if you have never stayed there before?
  • Play a lot at Rama?
  • How many did they get for the first one?

Ask the guy that wrote the article
  • Did anybody here play in this strange qualifier? Is M Resort a part owner or did Casino Rama get a kickback for hosting qualifiers instead of their regular tournaments? I'm looking for good live tournaments, but Casino Rama won't be announcing any more tournaments until after these qualifiers are over. :(

I didn't personally, but, I just had a few friends play this event last month, not sure if the structure is posted online or not but they said it was well run with an average structure. I believe their event had 80 entries and paid about top 10%(I may be wrong on this) with top 3 winning a pkg.

I was also told that this LV casino also owns rama, or part owner.
  • Owners of m resort are the same group that is part ownership of Casino Rama, to what extent I'm not sure.

From what I have read they own a total of 26 facilities in 18 states and Casino Rama here in Canada.
  • Wasn't the last one May 9th?
  • I looked at Casino Rama's tournament structures and they are still as bad as five years ago when I last looked at them! It's the only room I've seen that still has the blinds/round more than double; the cost per round of 300 in level 4 jumps to 700 in the next level. The Patience Factor is less than 9 and the Skill Level is 5.

The Skill Level 6 tournaments at Brantford and GBH are much better to play. I'm surprised that Rama would get ~80 gamboolers out of the 100 seats to pay $400 for only the chance to spend up to $5K of your prize in a non-WSOP event with 30% tax, with no cash-out option.

By the way, Penn National Gaming has a management contract with Casino Rama since 2001, and acquired The M Resort in 2011.
