  • I lived in suburb of Edmonton for 5 years, you'll like it. Alberta has a lot of oil money and we are getting busy again.

$1/2 in Edmonton is $500 max. Their Deepstacks each month get great numbers (see GTA BAP from back when) and there is a major series with 4 events ranging from $300 to 2k alternating between Yellowhead and Argyll about every two months.

Edmontonians seem to respect their cash a bit more than Calgarians, so games are a bit better balanced. Tons of guys here will vouch that the cash games are just about perfect actually.

As far as what there is to do in Edmonton? west Edmonton mall, whyte ave (retro clubby trendy area and Jasper Ave, little more hot rods and alternative clubs).

One thing about Alberta though, we are generally very work orientated and busting our asses. It's no Saskatchewan. Oil fields keep everybody hopping and busy when they are going hard, kids making 6 figures and living in camps. I don't know what big city life was like for you in Ontario, Van is very chill compared to here. We don't shut down for snow. Edmonton has six foot high piles of it right now.

It's 2.5 hour drive to Calgary or $35 bus ride and we have tons of smaller field medium bI events too.

Red deer is in the middle of us and has series as well. Prob about 50 $300-$1000 events per year between 3 cities. Get a lot of players travelling back and forth since its so close.

  • Good luck Costanza! Take all their money.
  • Ok, before any one gets bent out of shape, I put this in OT lounge for insight ... Not necessarily poker related

When I went to Vancouver I wish people told me about the aquarium, grousse mountain, east Hastings, etc lol

I'll be moving back to van (permanently) after a little time in Edmonton

Just any helpful touristy type stuff would be sick to know and I'd appreciate it

I'll keep my poker business to myself like I have been

  • Well...

I do believe there are TWO airports in Edmonton

When I arrived there back in March of 09 the pilot said it was warming up to a nice cool -25... so it is a nice dry cold... very dusty.

There are alot of Liquor depots

Oh and the mall has a swimming pool
  • I haven't had much of grandpas cough medicine in a while , I'm trying to watch my girlish figure but Ty for look out.

Speaking of girlish figure, does anyone know how the quality of wominz is out there??

    Tyty
  • In keeping with the tenor of your post . . . there is a lot of money floating on that oil patch . . . judge the quality of the "wominz" accordingly.

Alternatively, you could hang out your "couch-moving" shingle and see what arises . . .

Of course, this has nothing to do with what the women in Alberta are like.
  • West Edmonton Mall was awesome but I went there 20 years ago, so take that with a grain of salt.
