Some interesting things happening at Caesar's properties (besides the Linq).

We were talking about IP last night at my cash game and apparently, even though they are remodelling/renaming IP to The Quad, there are no plans to reno the rooms. Yuck.

Instead $185 million is going into Bills, which closes Feb. 4 for a complete remodel, with two new floors being added plus a roof top pool and a new name for the casino as well.

Also the large open area in front of Ballys which just seems to draw all the wacko costume characters jonesing for photo tip$, including Gamblor is getting a Grand Bazaar.

In a year or two that side of the strip is going to look completely different. Between the Linq, the Quad, the new Bills and the Grand Bazaar it's going to draw a lot of traffic away from downtown. It might be the final end to scummy downtown.

Shipping containers ain't going to do it. lmao.

Create The Shipping Container Capital Of The World.

Most urban revitalization efforts are centered in cities with vacant, crumbling buildings. Our Downtown doesn’t have those. To quickly create spaces for new businesses here requires innovative thinking, so we’re using repurposed shipping containers as places for entrepreneurs to follow their passions.

The name change makes me sad for obvious reasons. The place was kind of dumpy, relative to other places in that area of the strip but it had a charm that was kind of appealing. Oh, and cheap cash tables that I could afford to play on.

One of the few things I didn't like was the terrible draft, in the terrible plastic cups. I guess I shouldn't complain as it was free.

Moose, I seem to remember in your most recent Vegas trip report that you guys spent a reasonable amount of time there as well?
  • In Feb we spent the last night there because Beanie ran out of money. Agree horrible draft.

I have stayed at Bill's before. They used to mail me offers, then I signed up for email instead and haven't rec'd a single offer since. Hopefully after the remodel they go on Total Rewards. The roof top pool should be awesome.

I played BJ there back in the Barbary Coast days, before even the overhead walkways on Flamingo were built.
  • I never saw the rooms, but some guys I know stayed there. Said the rooms weren't fancy, but certainly weren't bad if all you had to do was sleep there.

"The extensive renovation will include the addition of a 65,000-square-foot rooftop pool."

That's insane. I can't imagine the engineering going into adding two new floors with that much weight sitting on top of them on the roof.

Maybe my Bill's hoodie will be a collectors item now. Not likely.
