Being as deep as they are, and the open being 4bb, which is on the larger side, I'm pretty sure flatting is the most optimal. Plus T8 is a boss so if he just flats it, it's probably the best play

Edit: we also has position. If we 3b pre to say...12bb, and he 4bets to 30ish, what is our plan then. Not happy flatting that, or even happy getting in 80bbs pre with what is likely a sub par field that will get outplayed post

Let me preface this by saying i don't play tournaments... [emoji4]

Villian has not played a hand... and open raises from early position.... 3betting here and getting 4bet back at seems simple enough.... fold! (ya ya.... 10 hand sample size... i know)

If you want to mix up your play and flat with JJ... thats fine.... but i would hope that would be the exception.

Sorry for the highjack.... gotta take the strat discussions where ya find 'em!!

edit: 4bb is on the larger size????
  • A 4bb open is on the larger side. Typical is usually 2-2.5. Plus it's probably not great to 3b then fold jacks, and 5b jamming is really bad this deep, much better to flat in position and peel a flop at least. Im sure t8 can play good post anyway against a random.

You and me both brother. I've been getting my ass kicked lately. I think I may just play some scoop events this/next week and then take a break from online poker for a month or two.
  • I've turned into a breakeven online player in 2015.......variance is absolutely brutal. When people make mind-melting shoves...seems like this has been the result often this year.

  • Oh I know the feeling, check out my twitter feed, I was playing a bunch of tournies, and just in the matter of a few hours, watch the boom hands that I lost with. It gets pretty ugly on there man....

    https://twitter.com/Irunit4times

Just keep at it, cuz eventually it will pay itself back to you.
  • I know it's hard to imagine in a downswing, and how soul crushing it can be, but, I mean, this particular player is the exact reason why your still logging in and playing, shows that the games haven't fully dried up yet, just need to be on the other side of variance.

  • Well it really wouldn't be a real Sunday without one of these. ;)
  • Somehow I don't think it was well enjoyed.......I prob said it over a year ago, but this thread needs to be changed to the T8 beats thread.
  • Really too bad they cut chat off unless you're in tourney...I wasn't able to vent properly.

Quads? or the Royal? Come on, you can do better..

I wanted to abort on every street, deck dealt me the perfect bluff runout lol (decided to stab flop which 90% would be a check call because I was kinda worried I'd face a lot more agression quite often on later streets)

Too bad he already had what you were representing... lol... now if another heart comes on the river you do get his stack.
