Poker Fundraisers locations in GTA

Hello All,
As you will see I am new to this forum.
I recently attended a poker fundraiser in York Region for my friend's son hockey team.
There were about 180 players so it was quite the experience for me since I have only been playing for about a year. I made it to the final 20 then was knocked out.
It looked like the hockey organization hired a company to run the tournament. Does anyone have more information on how to find out more about poker games they run? I know it sounds crazy but for a set fee and a few top-up/re-buys I thought this would be my best bet to learn more about poker than having to go to the casino. Plus the food was really good along with an open bar and I am on the heavier side so that makes it all worthwhile LOL!
I do play online but prefer to play in person.
