Stolen from "Good Will Hunting. "You like apples, how ya like them apples?" I've said that when I've busted a maniac raising and reraising every pot, then I'll usually leave the table and let him steam.
Most the time I just bite my tounge, if someone sucks out or hits a miracle card I won't say anything except, NH. I'm not huge on smacktalk and I hate when people do it or berate others play at the table online or other. I think the poker table brings out the real personality of people if their a prick at the table their probably a prick in life.
In WPT Aruba 2004 Layne Flack had a good one against Mike Madasow. Layne flopped the a good hand and mike was betting in to him every street then after they show the cards Mike laughs and says no bets?? Layne replies Why do the pushing when the donkey does the pulling. Everyone got a good laugh.
...Why do the pushing when the donkey does the pulling.
That's one of the best I've heard.
I never berate bad play anymore. Now I even defend the donkeys. When I started playing online I remember one horrible river beat and I just typed LOL...Biiiiiiiingooooooooooooo!!!!
I know pretty lame and stupid. The guy told me to stickit, (and in hindsight the rest of the table should have too). I was too dumb to realize that opponents bingo draws are where the money is.
I don't like to taunt and I really hate taunters. That being said, I have been known to break my rule in one type of scenario. I can accept being rivered, it happens. What drives me nuts is when the person who rivered me (and logically should never have been in the pot) won't admit it. They act like they had a great hand (i.e. 23o) and they planned on the getting a set of 3s to beat my two pair (A,J) off the flop.
You don't often see people putting noses in their smileys anymore. Very old school. And a nice way to avoid the dreaded Santa hat. ;O)
In terms of taunting, I try my best to just sit quietly or just make some benign chatter after receiving a bad beat. If I can keep a level head, keep playing, and win the money in the long run on average, that's taunting enough for me.
As for making some kind of remark after winning a big pot and/or laying a bead beat on someone (which I think the OP was talking about) this is probably rude behavior as well as poor poker strategy. In my experience, you almost never want any particular opponent (or opponents) coming after you specifically, whether or not they are on tilt, and whether or not they are bad players.
Unless I was playing with close friends and/or I meant it in fun (and I knew the opponent would take it this way), I'd almost never taunt someone when I was on the winning end of a pot/beat.
Actually I had one odd hand that busted me out of a SNG. I don't recall the hand but i recall it being him calling an all-in with a gutshot draw, and me having something like a set of kings.
he hits his hand. i type NH and just stare at the screen.
he types: "i got lucky"
i type: "well either way, nh and gl"
then one of this guys railbird friends starts typing about how "i must be a loser that likes losing and how his friend was so great"
the fact that his bad play didn't bother me, seemed to actually bother his friend ...
After a good suck out I once turned to my buddy and said "Who got rivered hard? Who's a Mr. Spillypants?" trying to emualte the Alexander Keiths Scottish spokesperson. We all had a good laugh about that one. That being said I only burn people I know really well because I know they can take it.
Side note: I have had some really good slow rolls which are the same as taunts.
One- four card flush on board I have a5 of that suit having turned the flush. Showdown I show my five someone shows a nine then someone had the J and tried to slowroll the pot showed and made a move for the pot upon which I showed my ace high flush.
Two- KK river makes a flush draw and there was board pair but I make a crying call and he says he has a five. Thinking that was the board pair I look dejected and start to muck then realize all he has are two pair 77(board pair) and fives. I quickly drag the pot and say "Sorry about the slow roll"

If your goal is to piss off the other players then I think you will have great success.
Enjoy.
Come on what is a good slowroll between friends. Like I said I only would do that to somone I knew well. I would never taunt a stranger or someone I knew couldn't take it.
It really depends on the exact chemistry of the game you're in. If these kinds of things go on all the time in your game, and the general feeling is that they're meant to be fun instead of annoying, then it is how it is. Slowroll away. (I thought it was pretty funny to be able to slowroll the "I've got a 5" angle shooter, friends or no friends.)
When I'm playing with friends, I'm actually less inclined to slowroll, and more inclined to show my hand promptly (or sometimes even out of turn) at the showdown if I think it's good. I'd generally like to keep them as friends.

OOoooohhhh ok, that changes everything then! Now that is hilarious! I would love to do that to one of my buddies and I would laugh my ass off if they did it to me also.
Once only. ;-)
Yes, things are different when playing with friends...

guy sucks out on you buy calling a big raise. beyond just typing nh, i'm likely to write 'gutsy call, well done NH'
reinforce his bad behaviour so that i can use it against them after.
stp
I've never done this myself but I heard someone say "YOU SUCK, LOU!" It was devastatingly effective.
Sometimes I'll say "wow are u ever lucky". That's just a nice way of saying "yer stuped".

:-)
Not really taunting anyone really, more patting myself on the back...
STP: Nice 'stuped' reference. Old-school, man, old-school...
I have been known to berate players for particularly moronic plays that leave me on the rail, but I'm trying really hard to do much less of that.
lolol
(I had to add an extra "ol" to the "lol" response because "lol" is too short for a reply ... odd)

Me: NH
UTG: no it wasn't.
Me: Sure! FLUSHES ARE STRONG!
UTG: Oh TY.
add playernote: "I will make this player pay DEARLY for draws"

Ah yes, It still brings warm memories back. Great taunt, but it's more effective when you've busted someone, instead of busting out yourself.

7 limpers to the pot. (Yay, LHE!)
Flops comes Axx with the Ace being the only diamond. Everyone checks it around to a free turn
Turn comes a diamond. UTG bets out, one caller and folds to me. I call $2 into the $11 pot.
River comes the third diamond, board doesn't pair. UTG bets out, other caller folds, I raise, he calls.
I show the nut flush and he shows his pocket rockets.
"Nice catch" says he.
"Nice throw" says I. The table laughs.
Wish I could remember where I got that from.
