I was there for the SUS, and it was amazingly well run, I was real impressed with their card room, dealers and professionalism
Really want to make another trip out there for this, the west coast rapes.

Darb and I went and got steve at airport.. had a few beverages and a shot of tequila... no idea why i wanted to get hammered, I think it was just the excitement of meeting btp
then we went to river rock, drank more... degenned on roulette + BJ , won a few hundred , drank more... we ended up getting kicked out when Darb was too drunk, and i only had my lisence on me (need 2 forms of id and my passport was at my place), whatever
we go to edgewater... start playing BJ in the high roller room.. won a K in about 10 mins... i was blackout drunk at this point
puked on the way home, steve took care of me, apparently i was telling them to leave without me.. steve stood beside me while i yacked and forced me in the cab
ended up getting in hotel, i opened + spit / puked in darbs bottle of baileys lol?
passed out drunk in hotel washroom, woke up and dont remember how i got home or when
i was dead yesterday, couldnt do anything till like 7pm
TL;DR - i was a disgrace on friday night, top 10 drunkest ive ever been... i was staked for a 2k event and couldnt even get there, im a failure
also, im sure i left a really good first impression with guys that i respect so much and have waited a long time to see

Props for your honesty (although the cynical side of me doubts you were ever legitimately backed to begin with). Bottom line, hopefully this was rock bottom and that it may kick your ass to stop drinking completely. I mean, that's high school stuff man. Pick yourself up...clean yourself off and move on...lesson learned.

You're trying to break into the poker community in Vancouver. Do you really want word to spread that you're an unreliable drunk who can't show up for a tourney you've been backed for? Your reputation is small now. You've already kicked it in the nuts and are in the negative. It's not a huge community. People talk.
If I was your backer, I'd be pissed. I could have had a different horsie picked and possibly made money. You didn't show, and your backer's money sat dead in the water. They were willing to spend it on someone. You wouldn't get picked again if it was me and I wouldn't speak well of you to others.
Only one of the group was smart enough to crash and cash next day. Bren had been doing well at $1/$2 so they covered difference for her to play her first 1k. One of the better players was still so green at 1:00 PM he phoned casino, told us to give her his seat and give him the collected cash. Of about 8 players, not one lasted 2.5 hours.
Ce la vie, but we all still thought it was shitty way to burn $8,800...
Dust off, try to take it as you JOB next time.
my "backer" is actually in no place to be on me about drinking.. truth be told, he highly offended my girl earlier this week at supper when he was super intoxicated.... we both have a problem with booze ... although he did chew me out yesterday pretty good
im not defending my actions at all.. luckily I was introduced to the right poker people here in vancouver by well respected people ... so Im sure my reputation is still ok... the other night was the first time i was REALLY over the limit
all i know is, I better crush wsopc or be shunned by my friends forever :-\
