Checking is okay, here's another thought.
When someone limps the sb especially mid late game, they will limp/fold about 80% of the time. If you 2.5-3x you are going to take down a decent amount of chips immediately ( in the long run without a showdown). This means you hand equity doesn't matter at all.
If villain is trapping he will always re-shove which means you can take JJ+AQo+ out of his range if he does flat.
Since you took initiative preflop villain will check fold well over 50% of the time. This means if he check calls pre, a 50% pot bet is going to show immediate profit with out even needing a hand.
I'll cbet prob 90% of flop textures in a spot like this, Axx Kxx Qxx are great flops to cbet.
For this reason if I have a monster...I may just check behind pre.
