WSOPC in Vancouver October 2012

Breaking: WSOPC Headed to Vancouver - WSOP News

Good job to Jason March for getting this done, if anybody remembers he used to be the Poker Manager at Fallsview back in 2006 when they got the WPT there for the first time.

  • Heard this was happening several times from people across NA in last month, they did good by announcing at Main Event, give them that. My one and only question now is with the 2 online tournaments, how is the rest of the country going to play?

    We'll soon find out.
  • Very nice. Didn't even know Jason went to PlayNow, just remembered him leaving Fallsview for a casino somewhere in the sun. Definitely good news for Canadian players, although obviously Ontario players still gets the shaft
  • Are PlayNow and EspaceJeux in QC connected, i.e., shared player pools? I wonder if the online tournaments will be "running" in QC if so? I presume that even if they do share player pools they could run network-native-only events as well... Will be interesting to see how this works out.
  • So they are giving a ring out to 2 events that only people that live in BC can possibly play?

    wtf?

    Turks
  • Looking forward to the schedule, and will likely make it out for at least a few days.

Gonna use my one time for a deepstacked PLO tourney.
  • Hopefully the Riverrock cash game room won't be like a 5 hour wait, and flights/hotels won't be super expensive like the past. One of the few reasons I didn't like going to BC for tournaments.
  • This is cool.
  • This is fantastic news for the West coast players, and I think Canada poker as a whole. 10 events, 2 online...that yes, only BC (and maybe QC?) players can get in on...From my understanding buy ins won't be as high as the standard wsop...but still should be significant enough to create some good prize pools. There are a lot of US players living in the Vancouver area now and it should have a great draw from the US as well simply for the prestige and the lack of a withholding tax. It is about time the West Coast had some significant poker series going on...the BCPC's have seemed to dwindle a bit over the last years..

I personally haven't played much poker to date this year, nor been thinking about it..life has been busy with houses, family, deaths, and quality time at the lake with the kids...but this certainly gives me a new lease on the game. Now just need to get a cell phone booster so I can have the laptop on the boat while fishing!!

Oct 27 is tentative starting...right after the next kid should be born...easy game!
  • Great for poker in Canada, curious to see buyin ranges, don't like that 2 rings are reserved the BC boys though....maybe they have a plan for this though?

Pushing BCPC back to spring most likely going to hurt Edgewaters latest Spring series too, glad to hear that this is about 30 days before WPT Montreal, so not too much clash.

    Time will tell

The BCPC sats ran on EspaceJouer didn't they? I think that they have regulatory jurisdiction/alliance to offer this, but it doesn't sound like they would be able to offer to other provinces. I am hearing you can access/play software here in Alberta, but can't claim prizing without BC ID

Buyins will be 300-1650...same as all the other stops apparently.
  • cooool.

    Maybe I'll play

I have a guest house with an address I can rent you Jon..lol But I want a cut of the winnings!
  • That would be fun. WPT seems really juicy too though.
  • Here is the schedule for WSOPC at River Rock

    http://www.riverrock.com/casino/poker-room/
  • The beauty of the River Rock is, you don't have to stay anywhere close as parking freaking sucks!! Especially for us rednecks with jacked up crewcab trucks...lol Skytrain is at the back door :)
  • mmm skytrain.

I've only been in the river rock poker room once or twice..nice place..will be neat to see it with a huge tourney going on.

Does the West Coast Express still go to Mission and Maple Ridge? Cause the girls at Tommys Bar and Grill at the Haney Hotel might be right up a few of our younger guys alleys...

Is the girl to guy ratio still like 4-1 in greater Vancouver? Only place in the world were the guy feels like a worm on hook..."I just came for a drink!"

No idea on the WCE...been a long time since I hung out in that neck of the woods needing transportation..lol

    That being said..I remember Tommy's quite well...and fondly>:D

And yes, the girl to guy ratio is still astounding..lol
  • Expect a few changes.

Nm. Looks like update has been made. Notice a few buyins bumped up?
  • Will 86% be there for this.
  • wish there were satty's for this..........but I may still try to make it for the main at least
  • I just wrote this up, updated info on table WSOPC buyins went up $20-$30 per event

Comparing chipstacks, blind levels and reg fees to Edgewater, would say WCPC has them beat. 200 player per day cap though, not hard to fill in Van.
  • There is satty's running on playnow.com.
