You think so? I don't think it'll be that short of 55 players, if at all.

I'm going to try to win a seat for this one too. Work's finally eased up a bit (after a full year) and I want to get a lot more poker in now.

The difference is that they put these in the regional section, where I certainly never look on a regular basis.

Yea just a gut feeling that nobody outside of stardust, who hasnt really built a huge player base yet) and CPF are going to know about this.

I'll be very surprised if they get 50.

The CanadaCOOP 109 got less than 200, and that was a regional online tournament - not a sat.

+1 on this. Although I guess they do have it advertised when you first login so that may get a few more players?
  • Didn't everybody get an email about thi as well?
  • they must've only sent the e-mail to those that win........cuz I didn't get one

I see no mention of this on 4 in the live MTT area...good news for satty overlays

are there any hotels in Kahnawake, or you have to stay in Montreal?

Not that i would stay at.

From my last trip there when it was Stardusts opening weekend, some of the pro were saying that Stardust and Playground were talking about purchasing land close to the clubs to build a nice hotel.

    nit..
  • basically just bubbled the first one. 8 seats, finished 13 or so. Awesome.

Wish it was a double stack tho, 1500 starting chips, it will be over in <3 hours.
  • Canadian poker scene heating up, that's for damn sure. Remember to play for your WPT Montreal seat too ;)
  • Let me know if you have any questions related to the Stardust Canadian Poker Classic and associated satellites.

It's a great time of year to visit Montreal and enjoy some great sights, food, and nightlife.

Hope to see some PFC'ers in attendance!

  • Let me know if you have any questions related to the Stardust Canadian Poker Classic and associated satellites. I'm excited about this new partnership and the inaugural event should be a lot of fun as it takes place in a beautiful card room and we expect a great turnout.

It's also a great time of year to visit Montreal and enjoy some great sights, food, and nightlife.

Hope to see some PFC'ers in attendance!

Some hotel and travel $$ included satties would be great for us cheap westerners.

Unlike a tournament like the PCA, we are not running this event ourselves, but are sponsors of the Stardust Canadian Poker Classic main event and running satellites online.

Thanks for the feedback; I'll be passing this along to the appropriate person.

  • Travel and hotel will be ~ equal in cost to $1,100 buy-in, def need to add for us cheap Westerners lol.

Dylan, seen a post on an article claiming Stardust is owned by Stars...seems to be a bit of a stretch?
  • Hi Jontm,

I hear you on how pricey travel can be from the West Coast. and in Canada in general :(.

Where did you see that article? We are not partnered or have any stake in the Stardust. My apologies if a previous post of mine was misleading. The PokerStars.net sponsorship includes the Stardust Canadian Poker Classic, and the Stardust Poker Mansion’s monthly Deepstack Poker Championship.

Let me know if you have any questions about this and I'd be happy to clear up any confusion.

    Dylan
  • It was just a player comment on an article about how Canada is heating up for big industry players...WSOPC/PlayNow, 888/Playground, WPT/PartyPoker and Stardust/Stars.
  • Thanks for the info Jon.

We'll figure this out as I'll have car. I'll PM you the best options in a few days.
  • Well done, congratulation appear to be in order!

    See you in Montreal :).

  • I just wrote this up and after sorting out the schedule, pretty damn impressed overall.
Very affordable buyins, lots of variety for the players and tons of cheap qualifiers online and off. I sent a few questions to Stardust on some of the info I was given; a) is the watch autographed by Duhamel going to ME winner, or is that a separate promotion?
    B) is the charity event sponsored by PS from 17th to 20th also benefiting Children's Hospital or just the $150 Stardust Charity event on 19th? If not, what will the PS event support?

I like the guarantee of 300k on $1,100. There is a competing event out west, COPC, but even at $2,200 I don't like their chances of hitting this for ME, where as you have GTD. Edmonton is also throwing a series near same time, so I can see more people staying home instead of Calgary, or heading east rather than coming here.

It's well before WSOPC or WPT events, so I don't think there will be any bankroll commitment conflicts for most players as well.

    Thumbs up!
  • NM Dylan, making edits ASAP as Stardust has responded and watch goes to 165$ monthly challenge winner and Charity details will be added to site soon.

In the meantime, Duhamel, McLaughlin, Zenni11 have RTed and the Winnipeg/Saskatoon circle ears looked perked up.

Get PStars to do same ;p they are tagged and lets get T8urmoneys pot growing.

Expect McClung will also be sharing by days end....

PS: given the 300k GTD, the travel and accommodation now becomes a mute point as the difference between COPC buyin and this will cover it with equal if not better top prizing. Already seen big players in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg react instantly to post and I would bank they are diverting August plans, especially since they can (and will) Bink a sat online.

The Stardust has a page set-up with hotel suggestions and preferred rates:

    Stardust Poker Mansion

Glad to hear the event is drawing positive attention. It'd be great to see some players from the Western provinces make the trip - I know it's a long way away but it would definitely spice things up.
