Haven't looked at it too closely, but off the top of my head.
MLB games, NFL games, college football games. Will definitely make the trip longer but might as well do something while you're at those cities?

Walmart has craps? ?
Anyways got to the hotel checked in and met up with SeektheGrail and the TheGrail at the casino around 6pm. Busy room with about 20 tables. Lots of tourneys, sngs, 3-6, 4-8 O8 w 1/2 kill, PLO, 1-2nl, 2-5nl and stud. There is a jackpot drop for straight flushes in HE and separate bbj for he, o and stud. Looks like we were getting comped at around $1.25 hr. Cash bar. Overall the casino is kind of smoky, though the poker room is off to the side and not too bad. Floor was somewhat disorganized and very slow in filling empty seats.
Played 3-6 before dinner with mmoose and lost, mmoose had a small win. After dinner, played out our $10 promo bucks for the new players. I went for the high return slots and spun my $10 into $40. STG and MM went for the low return BJ, both flopped 20 and the dealer rivered 21. Then STG and I sat in the 4-8 O8 1/2 kill game and I won enough to finish up on the day.
So far:
Day 1:
moose +24
mmoose +31
mmoose sat in 3-6 and won $24.
Then we went to dinner at the steakhouse, with the Grails. The steakhouse was great and we burned the comps earned. About $7.50 for us. After dinner we headed outside for the Journey/Loverboy concert which was a great show.
One cool thing to mention about Soaring Eagle is that you can go to the desk to sign up for games but also they have an electronic check-in where you swipe your players card and sign up for the all the games you are interested, even if it is not spreading and it will automatically create an interest list.
Today we got up and after breakfast with the Grails, we parted ways and officially began our Great Race. Drove to Horseshoe Hammond. We sat in a 3-6 game and started well and ran bad at the end. 4 hours play got us free buffets. Me down -$96 and mmoose up $9.
Horseshoe had excellent dealers and were spreading a lot high limit PLO (up to 20-40). 3-6 was paying us 17 tier credits per hour.
Gas: $0
Food: $0 (free buffets)
Gamble: $-95 total
Finally we checked in a La Quinta in Tinley Park at 10:30 pm.
Tomorrow the long drive to Council Bluffs, IA.
Mount Pleasant, MI
Welcome to Hammond, Indiana!
mmoose signing in at the poker room.
When the rungood was happening.
Before my runbad began....
Off to Horseshoe, since Harrah's has no poker room. DoH!
As I mentioned the ramp to Hwy 80W to Omaha was closed. 5 or 6 turbine blades were parked on the shoulder. They either had no where to go because the trailers were huge and the ramp was the only road that could take them or one of their brothers was the trailer that had jacknifed on the ramp.
As you can see, birds stand no chance with these suckers. No way to get an entire blade in the pic.
Made it to Council Bluffs, IA ok though with the detour plotted by our GPS and we pulled in around 4pm.
Weird bridge decorations.
It's like they knew we were coming.
So far, Caesar's Windsor, Horseshoe Hammond, and now Harrahs Council Bluffs.
Ok first bad beat, found out Harrahs Council Bluffs does not have poker, had to go to the Horseshoe which was a few minutes away. Second bad beat, paid for the wireless in the room then found out there was free wireless in the lobby. Also you do have to swipe your card in every location to be entered in the race, but if there is no promo kiosk then you go to the Total Rewards desk and they swipe you in.
Ok got on 1-2nl around 7pm tonight. First lap or so got all in on turn with nut flush draw and OESD. Cue the rungood. Hit the flush on the river. Got called for 3-6. Cashed out $400 and brought the remainder to the 3-6 table.
Left over after cashing out $400.
Since I was well freerolling today, I immediately asked if this was a kill table, and got the entire table to agree to put a full kill on. Then I button straddled everytime.
Sweet pot after button straddling and waking up with AKdd.
Healthy stack and mmoose isn't doing too bad over there to my left either.
Sweet chipaments. This was my peak after button straddling again and waking up with AA on the last lap of the night.
Short 2 hour session for 34 tier credits - 17 per hour at 3-6 and 1-2nl and back to the hotel for dinner.
For Berg: reubens!
Victory cake.
For k9dr: currently enjoying a Sam Adams Octoberfest.
Side note: Harrahs Council Bluffs has tons of drink/food specials on Tuesdays.
Harrahs $5 craps 10x odds
Horseshoe $5 craps, 100x odds. I may have to retire in Omaha.
Gambol: +$421 1-2nl, 3-6 limit, me
$-10 mmoose
Food: $0 burned comps at Harrahs
Gas: $48, 687.6 km, 12.31 ga (will convert up later)
$41, 614.1 km, 11.084 ga
Net to Date: $218
Convert up: 687.6 km = 427.25 mi, 12.31 ga, 34.7 MPG (Camry hybrid)
687.6 km, 12.31 ga = 46.59 l, 6.77 l/100 km
$3.699/gal / 3.78 l per gal = $0.978/l USD /$1.0259 USD/CDN = $0.9538/l CDN
I second this. Love reading the updates and seeing the pictures.
Started well in North Kansas city. Mmoose stacked me early when I raised the flop and she c/r me allin on turn with ace high and it held when I missed my straight draw. Did I mention we play each other pretty hard? Then I stacked a local b2b hands which put me up on the day.
Had a great lunch at a local smokehouse, recommended by the player's.
St.Louis wasn't so good and left us just covering our expenses with a 376 loss for me and a small loss for Mmoose.
Just leaving Metropolis now. No poker except on weekends and we spun another $142 in losses between us in about 10 minutes. How do people play these things?
Horseshoe Southern Indiana later today via Kentucky. Will stop for run good Subway
