  • Update: Jeff made it into the Main Event on his first try into the satellite. Man, this guy is having some sick results in tournaments. Won his entry for $42.00! Any other Calgaryites playing in this?

For those that don't know Jeff is the Brantford Casino Ultimate Poker Challenge II Champion. Easily the best player I know. Good luck guys, Kev shows up tommorow.

  • Thanks a lot Stp, Very nice compliments you paid me, I hope you maintain and remember that respect for me next time I'm across from you. Well, a great start to the trip indeed!
I arrived in here at about 9pm last night and partied very hard. Stumbled home around 4am and crashed until 9am. My buddy gave me a ride to the casino on his way to work and after shooting some 1-2 PL Hi Omaha for a few hours, the satellite was ready to start. It is a 20+2 entry for 500 chips, with $10 rebuys for 500 (as long as you have 1000 chips or less). I rebought twice to start and after an early double was in good shape. There were between 110-120 entrants. Top 3 won seats into the main event, and 4 through 10 got cash. When i got to the final table i was in 3rd or 4th place. I was a little upset that they did not award 4 seats, because the cash awards from 4th-10th was something like $1500, easily enough for another seat. But turned out it didn't matter because i was in first when we ended it, after 4th place busted. Kev gets in tomorrow and we are playing in a 121 man, $100 bucker freezout tomorrow. Wednesday afternoon we are in a $300 bucker, and then the main event is a 2 day event, Friday and Saturday (242 entrants) I will post later in the week, after the 300.
  • Jeff sounds like quite the start buddy glad to hear you got there safe!!
i hope one of you or kev wins an entry tomorrow so the rest of the week you guys can focus on that joocy pot limit game while getting ready for biggie
    good luck out there bro
meet you at the airport to help carry all your winnings

  • Anyone else playing in the CPT Main Event??? $1000 buy-in! Did anyone consider going to this? I'll put money on Jeff Campbell making the money, anyone want some action?

    stp
  • I considered it of course... sounds like ACTION to me!!! But I decided to save my cash for the local one at GBH next month, and for the WSOP, naturally.

I think that betting against any one particular player making the money in a NL tournament is usually a good bet, but I'd feel bad about rooting AGAINST a forum member/a friend of forum members, so I'll pass on that, I think.
  • ill take any action on Jeff not making the money. No offense Jeff but thats a damn good bet I mean some moron (lots out there) sucks out once and I get paid? How much you wanna bet?

Since Jeff IS a damn good tourney player with and amazing record I would only take an even money bet.

If Jeff wins the whole thing I would not be shocked AT ALL.

If Kev DOESNT finish on the bubble I will die of a heart attack from the shock it will cause!

hahahaha All the best luck and NO BEATS!
  • Alright Jer, $50.00 that Jeff makes the money. To bad you and I couldn't have made it to this one, swapping percentages could have been quite lucrative for atleast one of us. I work in Stratford, as do you I believe, so we can deal with the money there. I'm glad that your faith in suckouts and badbeats are as strong as my faith in Jeff's ablility to avoid them. Even money it is. Actually...why don't we throw Kevin in the mix to. I don't want him to feel as though I'm married to Jeff's talents and it makes the odds for me THAT much better. Let me know, I'll bet on just Jeff if you want but like you said Kev will likely bust on the bubble anyway ;)

    stp
  • You have yourself a bet! what kind of bet would you want to make on Kev though? I mean he WILL buubble unless the blinds get him first.

You work in Stratford? cool didnt know that. I live and work there.
  • We can go $25 on Kevin, I think he is due for a money finish. Yeah I work with Stratford Children's Services. Actually coming into town for 2:30 today. I'm fairly sure I know where you work just not sure of the exact location, I'll drop in sometime and say hi.

  • Hi kids.
Today is the 300+35. Me, Jeff, and our buddy (some of yous know) 'Maniac Mike' McKillop, our host for the next few nights, are all going to play. 121 players start.
Last night I went to check out the poker room for the first time. Bought in to the main event and the three of us all have the Friday session for the big one.
Celebrity player Shampoo was in the card room last night in the big game going, 10-20 limit.

Last night we went hard and hit a bar called "Cowboys", anyone whos been to Calgary should know it. Good times, and I even learnt how to 2-step.

    Wish us luck.

  • Awesome! Best of luck for you three, nice Southern-Ontario threesome you've got there. I remember playing NL at Burly's house with Jeff and Mike, how our games have changed since then. Post as soon as you can and let us know which one..or two or...three of you made the money and how much.

    stp
  • Cowboys is one of the best bars I have ever been too! Non-stop partying in Calgary! Some very good bars there.

Good luck in the Tourneys. Like I said last night...KICK SOME WESTERN ASS...Cowboy Style!

  • $25 on Kev? DONE DEAL!
  • Shampoo was there? He is a a*%hole.

    Can you qualify that statement?
  • I used to deal in the old charity casino days and i've dealt to him a number of times. He was always a big a%^hole when he was losing. He would fold out of turn and throw the cards at the dealer and curse. He was a big clown.

Vince was always fun to play with. He certainly has improved his game (over the last 12 years) and I remember the early days. Always a bit of a hot head, he still respected the line (for the most part) - he would go all helmuth-like (is that a word) when a he lost a stupid hand, and actually, he had to be asked to leave a few times.

Otherwise, a nice guy. He tipped well, if I remember (I used to deal too).
