Another round of huge reductions in tournament guarantees
PartyPoker has just made huge 25%-33% reductions in tournament guarantees for its $99 rebuy and $215 buy-ins. Has PokerStars and other sites reduced their guarantees too? Is it because of the Euro soccer championships and summer?
- $30,000 Gtd Super weekday rebuys has crashed 1/3 to only $20K.
- $40,000 Gtd Friday Special went down 25% to only $30K Gtd.
- $40,000 Guaranteed Saturday has plummeted by 25% to only $30K.
Last year when PartyPoker made the blunder of overly drastic reductions, many players left permanently. When the former $300,000 Sunday Guaranteed was massacred first to $250K then $200K during the 2011 WSOP, I correctly predicted that it would not recover and it is still only $200K one year later.

my guess is tony g needs the extra cash for one drop.
I've seen the 8pm $3+R go from $15k down to $10k, down to $5k and now sits at $3k.
The $11+R has gone from $70k down to $60k and now sits at $50k. The $5.50 R+A was at $30k, then $25k, then $20k, now at $17.5k
The 2:30pm $3+R used to be $40K and its now at $20k.
It could just be the summer, WSOP, Euro Cup and the massive tax bill they got from Spain. I have to admit though, I am liking the idea of smaller tourney fields.
