    ...guess not.
  • I like your picks a lot, watched both games, Russia looks very good
  • Go Germany
  • A - Russia, and Poland as the second best of a bad lot.
B - Netherlands, Germany. Denmark my squeak in if the Dutch immolate themselves, as they are wont to do on occasion.
    C - Spain, Italy.
    D - France, Sweden.
  • sweden is not advancing
  • Neither is England without a hell of a lot of luck.
  • I take france over england but other than that I agree.

fucking poland goal keeping might put a crimp in group A though

And really all that mattered today was Canada beat Cuba in WC2014 qualifying facing an unmowed pitch and a goalie sending off of their own.

i can't believe poland didn't win the opening game after being up a goal and a man. they are so lucky to end with a draw after goalie got red carded.

when's the last time canada even made it into the world cup?

england isn't supposed to be too good this year. and i think rooney is serving a two game suspension.

this group is pretty open. any of those teams could make it though i think.

    I hope you're right :P

I've been a bit disappointed in our team, our national league simple havn't been tough enough compared to others imo

    '86. far too long.
  • Worst Dutch performance it has been my displeasure to watch. No finish whatsoever . . .

    yup. they sucked
  • Although, there were two BLATANT penalties for them that were overlooked by the Ref. Might have changed the result. But the Danes were very solid in their structure and play, despite Bendtner looking lost at many points in the match.
  • yeah too much FPS by the Dutch around the box, but I agree about the missed calls: don't know how the ref missed the double-hand ball by the Danish defender very late in the game.
  • To be equally fair to the Danes, the first half of that should NOT have been a penalty (ball to hand). The second portion DEFINITELY was a penalty though as the player moved his arm away from his body, resulting in contact with the ball. Ref screwed the pooch. Still and all, the Dutch SHOULD have buried at least two of their many chances before that point.

I thought I saw RVP on the pitch....I must have been mistaken. He didn't show up
  • He created, and was provided, several chances . . . the one who annoyed me was Robben. As soon as things start to get urgent, he becomes a one man band. shooting from everywhere, challenging three defenders . . . I would start van der Vaart against the Germans on Tuesday.
  • france played a lot better than i was hoping for.

ukraine going to make it through the first round??
  • Hey . . . I had my $$$ on the yellow and blue team the whole way . . .
  • do I really have to forgive sweden for that embarassing loss to ukraine? :<
  • No . . . but if they redeem themselves with a win, you can "like" them again. The Dutch pretty much have to beat Germany today, or they are screwed . . . FML.
  • that portugal-denmark game was exciting for sure.

germany is looking very good. they're one of my favorites.

today i'm pretty sure italy and spain are taking easy wins.
  • WELBECK FOR ENGLAND !!!

That was the goal of the tournament.
  • it was a beauty.

i'm still shocked that russia lost.
  • just gotta say, what is up with denmark's collars on their shirts? they're always flopping around. that would drive me nuts while playing.

3/8. well i didn't do too well at all picking winners.

    Group A: Czech Republic, Greece
    Group B: Germany, Portugal
    Group C: Spain, Italy
    Group D: England, France

    my knockout stage picks:

    Czech Republic < Portugal
    Germany > Greece
    Spain > France
    England > Italy
  • I remember living and working on the Danforth during Euro 2004 when Greece made their run. Man, that was an awesome experience. Just the massive sea of people in the streets every few days. The party they had when they won went on for what felt like forever.
