  • lots of people are going, if you do a search you'll find a thread about it.

but you should have registered already if you're planning on going. since they're already into a waiting list now.
  • We need a list of exactly which forum members will be there for the purposes of a bet I have with gamblor. Basically, he bets that no forum members will make the final table, and I bet that at least one will. In order to do this, I'll need to know exactly who's going to be there.

Here's what I have so far, please correct me if I'm wrong:

    all_aces
    Chugs
    rgspence
    Dick Hertz
    Magithighs
    esool
    pkrface

I am forgetting some people I'm sure, and I probably am missing people who I didn't know were going in the first place. If you have posted anything on this forum prior to Feb. 3/05, and are planning to play in the event, please add your name to this list. I'll eventually PM everyone for their 'real' names so I can compare them with the tournament results.

rgspence, are any of your friends forum members, and if so, did they join before Feb. 3?

    Thanks all.
  • Unfortunately Im not going but in regards to the bet...didn't Gamblor say something about minimum 10 posts too? Oh and good luck all, looking forward to trip reports.

Good luck Rob. It seems like you or Mark Howie are ready for a big win...

    Mark Howell
  • Thanks Mark

Poker is one of those things that can make you very humble. When you think you are the cats ass, it will take you down very quickly.

I will try to play my best, the rest is up to the cards.

  • Obviously i still won't know 100% if i'm going until i see how my challenge goes ... but i wanted to plan for one thing in advance anyways.

I was wondering if a few people wanted to collectively swap a few percent, in a pool. For example i'm willing to swap 15% or 10% into a pool with a few other forum members. Obviously the idea is to diversify the risk since you'll be putting that percentage of yourself into the pool and getting a relative chance at that back from the others contributing. In theory if 5-6 of us are participating, were any one of us to win the whole thing, the percentage pool may nearly cover the event.

    So anyone interested?
  • Hey Chugs, I was going to go but work has put an end to that. I have a couple of friends going that might be interested in the pool idea. I was wondering if it is alright to give them your email address, so you guy's can discuss this further?

    Rob.

I would be interested in swapping off a small percentage with one or more players from this forum.
  • I wanted to find out what everyone else's plans are in terms of what time they're planning on getting there, and if people may want to do a pokerforum.ca breakfast time permitting.

Not sure, but i would assume the restraunt at the casino does breakfast.

Actually, the casino provides a continental breakfast for all tournament players.

At the registration desk, there is coffee and pastries. I usually get there about 8:45/9:00 and just sit, relax and shoot the shit for a while. I would be up for a meet there, but a full breakfast is not for me.

What is your name(s), I will look for you.

my name's Neil, in terms of finding me i'm not sure what i'll be wearing ... maybe i'll try something intimidating like dressing up as Genghis Khan, or maybe wear a speedo ... both likely to have the desired affect.

    ROFLMAO :D
  • I'll be on Y108 doing a phone-in on Wednesday morning at 8:00. So, I won't be able to meet up with people before the event, unfortunately. I know Gamblor, esool, Dick Hertz, and Chugs though, so I'm sure we'll all hook up throughout the day.

I'm thinking that if I leave here (downtown Toronto) at 8:20 or so I MIGHT not make it there by 9:30, which is when we're supposed to check in. This is obviously because of traffic, despite the fact that I'm actually driving away from Toronto when most people are driving towards it.

I'll probably leave my place at like 7:15, drive for 40 minutes, pull over, call in to Y108 from my cell, and carry on. Otherwise, I might miss the check-in time and with the big waiting list they'd probably be pretty willing to give my seat away.

sweet i live about 1:15 from the casino (if i drive like a maniac on the backroads 50 minutes maybe) So i'll listen to the interview on the way.

Btw for anyone driving to the casino, i might recommend a good back route to get there. Instead of taking the 401 or highway 7 across, drive up the 404 to bloomington and then drive across from there. the route has little traffic and except for a few spots where it does get down to one lane you should be in great shape ... plus you can avoid the guranteed congestion on the 401.

oh and unfortunatly aces, i guess i know you also

But he's only sixteen, he don't have a rep yet.

  • I am actually only coming for breakfast. I will leave the playing for the 'pros' here. But I will pool 15% of the coffee budget with forum members.

    Any takers?

Fortunately for me, my Y108 interview has been moved to next week. I guess they didn't want to chance bad cellphone reception. So, you will be denied the pleasure of my voice accompanying you up to Port Perry. I am on 102.1 The Edge at 9:00 am Thursday though... the Dean Blundell show. I'll update the Labatt Blue WPT thread shortly, so if you have nothing better to do on Thursday morning, you can listen in.

Of course, you'll probably be too hung over from celebrating your big Wednesday night win....

that's the plan, visualize the victory

'were sorry to announce that the other 87 players got stuck in traffic on the 401, and we declare you the winner' .... yah!!!
