OLG Gananoque tr

This room is now spreading the $0-100 spread limit game which has killed all their limit action. Crazy loose and soft play. Played Fri night where almost every hand was straddled to $4 and went back on Sat afternoon where almost no-one straddled. Though I did see one hand on Sat which was familied for $4 each.

Lots of awful shit like limping for $2 and then calling $20 raises. Never really had any big pots or big hands, though I did see several cashouts for $600 plus and one guy walk away with over $1k for a few hours work. It did play more like a home game than any sort of real poker.

One hand I raise to $12 with ajs from the button into 5 limpers, 3 callers. Bb leads the flop KQx for $7, one caller to me and I bump to $16 with nut flush draw and everyone folds. Wow.

Another hand I go to $20 from bb with aq into about 6 limpers. Utg calls and another caller. Flop is j10x and Utg leads $25, folded to me and I flat. Turn is A and river blank and it is checked down. I figure my A is good and Utg rolls a set of jacks. WTF?

Profit of $174 for me over two days.

Dealers were mostly horrible with a couple good ones mixed in. Stupid rule of whatever goes over the line stays so don't carry more chips in your hand then you intend to bet.

  • Forgot to add that playing over away stacks is allowed. Great idea IMO.

This is pretty standard rule now, cuts down angle shooting. Some Calgary greaseballs had mastered how to abuse the shit out of this. Necessary IMO
  • My friends and I always include the Thousand Islands Casino as a pit stop to and from Playground Poker Club events. There are four poker tables (live, I was expecting electronic). There is a free self-serve drink area. I have found the nearby gas stations along King Street as the best place to fill up instead of the rip-off prices at Kahnawake and OnRoute stations.

The great news for tournament players is that the casino will now have five tournaments weekly, including Pineapple and a new $200 Sunday tourney starting on April 27. My friends and I will stop by on May 4 and 26 if we're done with the Playground tournaments, possibly booking a hotel overnight.
