Casino Lac Leamy

Hello Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted here, and longer since I've posted anything serious, and that under a different guise! After a lengthy poker layoff, I returned to the tables, visiting Casino Lac Leamy, in Hull, or Gatineau, or whatever the hell they're calling the area now!

I went with a group of people, mostly non-gamblers, and it was a festive affair, 11 rowdy individuals, enjoying the buffet, and drinking our asses off during dinner! Dinner broke up, individuals scattered across the casino, and I headed for the poker room! This was my first visit here since the Quebec government blessed us with a live poker option!

I quickly get my name on the board for all the games available, and what a wide variety there is: 1/2nl, 2/5nl and 5/5nl... I struggle to hide my excitement, and am barely successful! Blah! "It won't be long, Sir," exclaims the brush, and my only interaction with an employee other than a dealer, results in a stone cold lie! Good start!

The video board with the games on it only displays about 12 names per game, so I have know clue how far down the list I am without checking back at the desk, and I have no plans to be annoying! I calmly watch the hockey game and wander the tables watching a few games! An hour forty later, I get a seat at 1/2! Woohoo!

I won't bore you with the details, but in the two and a half hours I was there I squeaked out a tidy profit, encountering absolutely no push back to aggressive play! The entire table was more than willing to reward aggressive play by folding meekly! Frankly I was shocked! I got called for a 2/5 game about an hour before a scheduled departure so I passed, and hung on to the table I knew! I made $318 in 2.5hrs and never got it all in once with a call!

I may go back!

If anyone is a regular there, I have two questions?
A) I only witnessed one floor descision during my visit, and it seemed fine given what I could discern with my limited French! How are the floor descisions in general?
B) Are the games always this passive/soft or did I just sit down in utopia by chance?

No lectures on small sample size please! I could have booked a loss and I would still think the table was paradise!

Thanks

  • A) All of the floor decisions I have witnessed @ Montreal & Gatineau & Charlevoix have been beyond reproach. These are both well run poker rooms, professional staffed and well versed in the rules of poker and how games should be won.
    B) Satiny soft but brutal rake.

One of the nicer aspects of poker in Quebec is dealers keep their own tips. They are far more conscientious of their customers (and more 'political' as well, in the sense that they do not want to alienate anyone). People from Quebec tip absurd amounts as well.

They do however charge ridiculous amounts of money for whiskey.
  • Interesting,

    What's the rake structure?

How much did you see people tipping?
  • I was at Lac Lemy for new years, it is a great facility, a decent amount of players and fish, just know which ones to attack and which not. DUH
  • Rake structure is $7 max for 1/2 and $10 max for 2/5. Plus a dollar for the bad beat.

It's all relative! Order a drink in Manhattan, and get back to me!

Thanks for the rest... I'm definately going to go back!
