New Brantford Tournaments Blondefish-Approved!

I looked at Casino Brantford's latest tournament schedule and the structures look much improved (see page 5). Most of the tournaments now start with 10,000 or 15,000 chips. For example, the upcoming $160 Deep Stack has the same 15,000 starting chips  as the $1,090 Deep Stack!

What's just as good are the new Sit and Go tournaments (see page 4). Just like some of the excellent SNGs that I grinded at WSOP Rio and Venetian DSE, these are two-winner SNGs. The $80, $100 and $150 SNGs have 3,000 starting chips and have 15-minute levels. The $230, $340 and $560 SNGs have 20-minute levels, more chips and lower rake.

For example, I want to try the $500+$60 (10.7% rake) SNG with 8,000 starting chips and the top two win $2,500 each. :cool2: Did somebody say BAP? :) Hopefully, players will request these SNGs so that they will run regularly just like during the Fallsview PC, WSOP and DSE.

When the day comes that I can no longer win enough online, it's great that I now have a "plan B" available:
- Play as many of these Brantford tournaments.
- When I'm done with the tournament, play as many of the SNGs available.
- If there is no more tournament or SNG to play, learn how to play Limit cash games. :-[

  • Did you satty into the 1K today?
  • No. The $1K Brantford is tempting, but I plan to be grinding Pokerfest at PartyPoker.

    5% :)
  • Considering playing in the $160 Deep Stack next week. Do I need a credit card to reserve over the phone?
  • Yes, you pay by credit card over the phone with no extra fees unlike Fallsview and other casinos. :rage: When you go to the poker room, give your confirmation number, credit card and government ID to pick your random seat.

  • Since I'm taking a break from playing online poker at PartyPoker, :p I was looking forward to playing a live tournament at Brantford with up to 40 players, and top five win a prize pool over $6,000. I was surprised that there weren't enough players and only the top 3 got paid.

It's been a long time since I initiated the posting of "Skill Level" and "Patience Factor," but now that I've started to play live again, it's time to dust off my calculator. The following tournaments have 10,000 starting chips, Skill Level (SL) of 5, and Patience Factor (PF) of 8: $100, $120, $150, $180, and $200.
The following Deep Stack tournaments have 15,000 starting chips, the highest SL of 6, and PF of 11: $120, $160, $200 Bounty, $230 and higher Deep Stacks.

I plan to play the $550 Deep Stack events and possibly the $1,090. PF = 31! :cool2:
  • I want to try out one of these tournies in the near future. I like the new times, 7pm and 11am. I won't be playing anything over $150 though. Best of luck to you Blondefish, maybe I'll see you at one.
  • I'd definitely try the $550 if I didn't suck so bad at tournaments.

    :D
  • The $50,000 prize pool tournament with a Patience Factor of 31  is already next Sunday, so remember to register for the $130 Super Satellite for tomorrow night at 7 PM. Less than the minimum 10 players required have bothered to pre-register as of this moment. I will be playing a live tournament on Sunday for sure.
  • see you all on sunday. best of luck. $550 event.

    How about a BAP Buddy?

I cashed at Brantford and was thinking of offering a BAP to people I know, but I'm not 100% sure where I'll play poker this Sunday. Just like Pokerfest when all four events that I planned to play on the first day got cancelled, :-[ I wouldn't want to offer a BAP for the upcoming $550 and $1,090 events that I'm not yet sure I can play.
  • Is anybody else playing the $130 Super Satellite tomorrow night for the $100,000 prize pool tournament at the end of this month?

This still the case today? Registered for Sunday's 180.
    Thx
  • I tried to look at the blind structure but this popped up - "Call our Poker Room in regards to details of our Blind Structure." Maybe you or somebody can phone, & post any changes to Brantford's Patience Factors. A $300 tournament I'm playing has a higher PF than WPT Fallsview's $1,100 event!

Called poker room. They couldn't find the blinds, but said T10k, first level s/b 25/50. 30 min levels. Expects it to sell out at 80 ppl. Usually ends @ 9-10pm
  • They couldn't find the blinds
LOL, if they had not removed the info from the website, they wouldn't have lost it!

Took blind structure off the website with instructions to call to ask and then can't find blind structure when you call. Well played.

    Any buy-in under $230 is 20 minute blinds. $230 & $330 events are 30 minutes - $550 & up are 40 minute blinds

Blind structures vary a little between events, but are usually:

    25 / 50
    50 / 100
    100 / 200
    100 / 200 25
    200 / 400 50 (this is where some have a 150 / 300)
    300 / 600 75
    400 / 800 100
    500 / 1000 100
    600 / 1200 200
    800 / 1600 200
    1000 / 2000 300
    1500 / 3000 400 (again, some add 1200 / 2400)
    2000 / 4000 500
    2500 / 5000 500
    3000 / 6000 1000
    4000 / 8000 1000
    5000 / 10000 2000

Thanks - the guy didn't sound like he had a clue. This is very helpful.

I did this a couple years ago and posted it here:

    http://www.pokerforum.ca/f7/brantford-2014-tourney-info-31518/?highlight=gottaget

I don't know of any major changes to the tournament structure at Brantford so I think it is still fairly accurate.

Next time I find myself waiting around at Brantford I'll do an update and post as I still use this as a reference for myself and its now 2 years old.

The current tournament structures are always kept in the black book behind the sign-in desk for anyone looking for the info themselves.
