heh, plans for a poker table are already in the works ^-^
  • So, where is the new Trigs casino and resort hotel to be located?
  • Yeah Hobbes just does stupid stuff like building perfectly good poker rooms and using them for storage and remodelling basements for laundry. Seriously WTF?

lol. i've always wanted to have at least one poker table and a regular game going at my place but living in an apartment was always a hindrance. not enough space for sure.

this place i got now is definitely spacious enough. the mrs. has already okayed the games room in the basement (well, eventually, once we save up for a bit). poker table and pool table have always been on my list. i'm really considering building my own poker table just to save a few bucks. would be a fun project.

btw, i'm in the hammer. maybe this summer i might run some games. we'll see.^-^

    storage is way overrated ;)

You just bought a house. Say goodbye to saving up.

Just kidding. Congrats. I remember when we first bought this place. The whole real estate experience is something I hope never to ever go through ever again. I agree though about going through the waiting period. We had to sign off on letting the people stay long enough for their kids to finish out the school year.

I thought I was going to go insane for those two months.
  • Welcome to the wonderful world of home game hosting, err I mean home ownership :)
  • You just bought a house. Say goodbye to saving up.

lol yeah that's for sure. we're already coming up with a giant list of stuff we need to buy.
I thought I was going to go insane for those two months.

originally the closing date was in 60 days, but the family wanted an extra month (possibly to finish out the school year as well). i'll be waiting until the end of june. man it's so far away :(
  • I thought I was going to go insane for those two months.

haha...only 2 months? Both times we've purchased, we signed the deal in Feb and moved in June. The second time we had to sell the first house in the spring. Took 2 weeks :)
  • Horrible thing for us (mostly me) was that we lived in a rental 1 block away from the house. Every day I'd walk by the house with the dogs. Sometimes a few times per day. Drove the wife crazy. She said it was like I was stalking them.

    She wasn't wrong!
  • sick! I am really looking forward to the day i rob a bank and can afford a house
  • passed inspection. no major issues. going to finalize financing some time this week (which isn't an issue - we had already gotten pre-approved in the past but it had just run out a few weeks before).

how the hell am i supposed to keep focused on work now? i just constantly think of crap i have to do/buy for the house. nothing else matters ;)

It keeps happening after you get the house too.

My only piece of advice to add to the already good stuff everyone else has said: get everything in writing and take a video camera walk of the house. We were told we would get certain items with the house, including things that were fixtures, which it did state in writing. We show up and there's a bunch of stuff, including shelves that were bolted into the walls that he removed and took with him. Also left the place a bloody mess. Didn't sweep, dust or clean anything and left a bunch of junk in the basement and shed that we had to get rid of.

So, by taking a walkthrough with a video now, and then another one when you move in, you have proof that items A, B and C were supposed to stay and didn't. Best of luck!

Also, I think the jackassery of this fool that owned our house before us has more to do with our city of jerks rather than regular home sellers.

that would really suck if the owners did that to us.

we did walk around with the inspectors and took a bunch of photos/videos. we also have it set up for another walk through closer to the closing date just to check everything out again. thanks cerberus.
