Trump Taj Mahal AC
Hey Guys,
I am headed to Atlantic City for a stag next weekend. I have found a tournament at the Trump Taj Mahal for Saturday morning:
$53+$12, 25k starting stack, 20 minute levels and blinds start at $25-$50 and go up but don't double each time. PF 13.5 Skill Level 6. Anyone ever played this? How big are the fields? Payouts?
Also looking to play some cash games. Any suggestions? We are all Atlantic City newbs so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Young Grimm

For bigger tournies the Borgata is the place to be... I have played almost all of them over the years...
The rest don't even get going most days anymore... AC is dieing..
say it ain't so...
compared to 4-5 years ago, definitely...
( quick sidenote, I never did get to Ledyard. Is the issue bigger than AC? Saw an article about Foxwoods recently, don't know where it is now, here's a similar one:
Foxwoods Is Fighting for Its Life

'Farhrenkopf acknowledged that when the market does decide, it can have adverse consequences — in Atlantic City, for example, where casino revenue is down 37 percent since 2006 and the city’s future as a gambling mecca is very much in doubt. Rooms at hotel casinos have been going for as little as $19 a night. At least four casinos have been in bankruptcy, and people are no longer crowding onto buses to head south down the Atlantic City Expressway. “The Pennsylvania casinos are killing Atlantic City,” he said. “That’s where the Philadelphia market used to go, but now they can stay home.” '
the best place - good dealers, little waiting time - lots of 1-2 action with players of all skill levels
for tournaments watch out for the 30% tax charged Canadians - not consistent
- my brother-in-law cashed in a multi-table tournament at Harrah's and NO tax was taken off - I cashed at Harrah's in a multi-table tournament and 33% was taken off the top (30% federal and 3% state tax I was told)
Same here 2 years ago, cashed for like $1400 and they took of the 30%... I wouldn't play there again because of that. Showboat does not withhold for Canadians..
Played the Tropicana on the first night and the room was hopping. From what I recall the dealers were good, efficient and friendly. I played $1-2 NL and started off down 2.5 buyins due to my being fairly intoxicated. At about 1 am I decided to mix in the odd water in between beers and gradually clawed back, hit a few good hands and cashed out at 8:30 am up $200. Slept for about 40 minutes, showered had debriefed with the gang about our adventures the night before. Four of us decided to play the 11:15 am deep stack at the Taj Mahal. I loved this tournament (not just because I ended up cashing). Dealers were great, drink service was great, tournament director was good too. There ended up being 4 tables and the top 4 spots got paid. When we got down to 7 people at the final table and I started to throw our the idea of some sort of chop. 6 of 7 agreed and this one local was opposed (he was about average stack). So we played down to 6 people and again the local was opposed (slightly below average). Then down to 5 and he just said nope everyone throw in $20 for a $100 prize for the bubble boy. The table rejoiced when he went out 5th and made less than half the money I had proposed at each of my chop suggestions. What an asshole (although I'm sure he thought he was the best at the table...don't we all). We trade chips for a while and one guy has a big stack but near my exit he was getting whittled away. Finally I am BB with A8o, he pushes from SB with A7o. If I win the hand I am the chip leader at the table. Flop comes 567 rainbow but his 7 held up. I cashed out $270.
