Race to the finish line, ponyboy!
The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
DJ just needs to remember this, and remember to play HIS game, and all else will be as it is supposed to be.
More specifically . . . we all go home in limos.
or he's at the craps table.
With 20min blinds, I knew it would be shove or fold as it got near the end of the tourney, but early on, there was room to play.
First big hand of the night came with the blinds still at 25/50 - I raise to $150 from UTG with J-J, all fold to the button who re-pops it to $450 - Some background on button, I have played with him in a Hamilton home game a few times and he is extremely tight and would only do this with QQ+ - but we are really deep so I call to set mine.
Flop comes Jack high, rainbow - bingo, a set. I check and he leads out for $500. I do not want to slow play this as I think I will get paid on all three streets and I re-pop it to $1200. He just calls. Turn is a brick, I lead into him for $2000 and he just calls. River is a King -uh-oh, he could have KK, but I cannot be that unlucky, can I ? I bet $3000 and he just calls and I show my Jacks and he has Aces. Nice pot me.
Nothing much happens until just before the second break. I am dealt QQ in the SB, folds to button who raises it to $1200, I re-raise to $3000 and BB calls, and button calls. Flop comes......Qd-Ts-5s !! Top set, I decide to disguise my hand and lead out for $4000, BB calls and button goes all in. I snap call, then BB says, all in !!
Holy crap, I couldn't say call fast enough. Button shows Q-T for top two pair, BB has T-T for second set and I have top set and they are both drawing dead. I now have $58k in chips and am the chip leader by far with 25 players still in.
The final table stack average is going to be $40k and I am already over that.
I start stealing blinds, no one wants to tangle with me now. Then I get A-Q in mid position. I raise it to $3000 (2.5x BB), the button calls and the BB goes all in for $8000 total. I snap call (in hind sight, I should have re-popped it) and button calls too.
Flop is Q-T-3 rainbow. I bet $12000 and button goes all in for $20k and I have to call. She flips over Q-T for two pair and hits a ten on the turn for a boat and I'm down under $40k.
We get down to 14 players and I get moved to the other table. I get dealt QQ the first two hands and manage to chip back up to $58k. Then comes the brain cramp.
I get dealt Ac-4c in the SB and its just me and the BB. I raise to $3k (2.5x BB) and the BB calls. Flop is 8c-7d-2s - I check and BB leads out for $4k and I re-raise to $10k. I think its a strong move, and should rep a bigger pocket pair to the board. He just calls.
turn is 8c - Now I have flush draw, but if I do have a pp, then I don't like the 8 , thinking he probably has one. So I check and BB checks. - River is the 8h. Now an 8 is unlikely for him, the only way I win though is to bet. So I lead out for $10k, and he tanks.
He calls with 2-2 - for Eights full - I am now down to $25k
After that it was trying to find hands to steal blinds and antes. I did manage to get it to $30k at the final table. The shortest stack at the table went all in for $6k UTG(blinds were $1k/$2k) - It folded to me in the SB and I had As-7s, so I went all in for $24k to get heads up.
Short stack turned over Q-Jos - Flop came A-K-4 rainbow, nice I'm in front....until the turn brought the ten and gave him the straight. FFS. I dont even remember the last hand, I saw paint UTG (only had 4 BBs), and shoved - got called by AKos and they hit. GG me.
So no cash, but I'll be ready for Thursday.
GG, I think the casino noticed you were running over the tourney when they changed the deck to the trick deck! the one consisted of two 8c's.. Lol jk good run
Ya that BvB hand was terrible. And I know if I shoved the river versus the Aces nit, he folds.
You sure, nits don't fold aces:)
10am start?
