Thoughts on this Article Regarding Party doing Montreal Classic
Been thinking about how I wanted to write this months, then awhile back I got news that PartyPoker was going to step in and run a charity event.

I was carefull in my wording, as I don't have a source to quote as of yet to confirm that the 30 players paid through FTP didn't get prizing.
I do now have statements in response to this, from one the old board members for Miriam event that is now on the board for the new event.
I'll leave it at that for now, appreciate any feedback.

Did the old board member confirm that FTP screwed the winners and/or the charity? Sharkscope.com is better than wsopdb.com in checking the victims' participation at the WSOP.
I realize these events are separate, though there are many of the original board involved and essentially, Party and those familiar have just taken the idea, identical format, time frame and structure, renamed it and it's a new event.
I am not looking to make party look bad in anyway, but I do like to see some accountability to players who support theses things.
Here is another example, and you know I think highly of you
Nash, but why is it COPC and the Kickoff series were both CPT events and now they are DFIC events? Same ideas, names, etc...so why the change?
COPC -> Canadian Open Poker Championships
Thanks DataMn for explaining abbreviations.
I did receive an invite to attend, but going to pass as family has other plans over same time. I doubt Lynne will be attending, as she had to miss Fallsview.
The info on the Miriam Foundation is at Montreal Poker, Miriam Foundation, Poker Montreal Open
It sold out last year at 1500 players, $275 entry for 5000 chips, $125 rebuys.
Anyways, the following response has been provided by Dan Vigderhous (who has been involved with the Le Windsor Charity events since their origin and is the producer and co-tournament director for this year. He also used to run Four Aces):
#1 "We are placing all the buy-ins into a trust account that cannot be legally touched until all prizes and expenses are paid. The charity will only be receiving the donation until all responsibilities are properly paid and taken care of."
#2 "Party Poker, obviously being an aboveboard online company (pulling out of the US market in 2006, and being a publically traded company in the UK) isn't faces with the same issues as FTP or Stars did. This is another level of security for the players getting paid"
#3 *** some omitted***30 players (from last year's Miriam Open)
"We have invited each of them as our VIP guests to this year's event."

Have also found 2 finalists so far that are willing to talk to me about their stories, which confirm mine.
nit
I prefer my better half to all these women. You guys are pigs. All of you. For shame!
10,10,9,10,10,10 (her eyes are closed; I prefer when they see what's about to happen )
so she was looking over your shoulder at first huh?
Hmmmmm... I figured you would know how to read between the lines
Beat! I showed my wife and she had her own ranking.
Models are so rigged . . .
I am assuming you have been looking here:
Home
Kill the /mtlppc/ and you get Eventure which has a contact tab and e-mail form here: Eventure – Contact
If that doesn't get a response, can PM you a contact, I'll do that now.

You planning to go BF?
I had thought FTP took the $412,500 in buy-ins while the Miriam Foundation got the rebuys and add-ons (~2,700 totalling ~$340K?), but it turns out that Miriam kept the entire $750K+. If Cookie is correct that "the law of Quebec, as contained in Article 1443 CCQ is very clear on this point" (see below), then Miriam should pay the 2011 winners from its $750K proceeds.
"1443. No person may bind anyone but himself and his heirs by a contract made in his own name, but he may promise in his own name that a third person will undertake to perform an obligation, and in that case he is liable to reparation for injury to the other contracting party if the third person does not undertake to perform the obligation as promised."
Miriam can then stand in line with the rest of FTP's victims in trying to recover $200K+.
I dunno now. I'm waiting for a legal opinion from the law firm of Angelique, Brittany, Danielle, Ivy, Jeannie & Tugba. >:D
It's a tricky issue, and that's why I have so many questions. My son has autism and I was very pleased the Open did so well and Miriam does what it does
The event and game is enough of a crap shoot and I don't think winners need to gamble on getting paid too
which in the hands and experience of Chad Holloway turned into the most read article on PokerNews.com this week.
Seeing as the have a million plus page views a week and 4000+ sites linking in, quite satisfied that the players can at least be satisfied their situation is not brushed under the rug.
So moving on to the positive, the biggest charity tournaments in Canada will continue and learn from past oversights; thank you to those who did contribute thoughts in the thread
