    Crazy!!!
  • Likely what happens when people actually do their job at work. Here in Alberta it would take 2 years with crews of 20 workers sitting on the side of the road.

Here in Ontario it would take 4 years with twice as many workers and 10 times the supervisors.

Nope, the one I posted is 15 days. I see yours as well Johnnie, I wonder if they are two different hotels in different cities.. In either case, super fast, I wonder about safety/quality..
  • speaking from my experience teaching abroad in south korea, they would build structures/buildings/bridges etc. crazy fast. they have been very eager to rebuild after the korean war truce. i'd be amazed at how fast they'd throw up buildings down there.

that being said, when they were extending the subway lines as fast as possible and there was a cave in that killed some people, all the koreans i spoke to said something along the lines of "well, that's okay if some people die. that's the price of progress." this amazed me just a little more than how fast they could build stuff.

and one hour of overtime here would pay for an entire crew for a week there.
  • Don't forget the engineers. Seriously overpaid.

    :D
  • No details on how many workers on site? How long the work day lasted? Whether any of the materials were pre-fabbed off site? Lots of ways to cut time and simplify the process of construction when the most important point is getting the job done, rather than getting it done "right".

I watched another video that said they went 24hrs/day and finished in under a week.

I would assume that everything was pre-fab and ready to be slapped together at the site.

The OP link said everything was prefabbed.,..
All the materials were prefabricated and sections built to specification off-site, so there was very little wastage.
The builders took just 46 hours to finish the main structural components and another 90 hours to finish the building enclosure

It also said they worked until 10pm each night, but not through the night and zero injuries.

As for safety...these are the claims
The Ark Hotel was built on Dongting lake, in the Hunan Province, by Broad Group, a Chinese construction company which specialises in sustainable architecture.
It was built to withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake, as tested by the China Academy of Building Research, who claim this is five times more quake-resistant than conventional buildings.

Could it be as strong as that silly wall they built? ;)
