  • well, im in vancouver, so i can tell you where to get them here...but i dont know your location....
  • Chapters.

CPP is a great mag, should pick it up for sure. Another one is Bluff Magazine.
  • Is there anywhere else in the lower mainland besides Chapters? I have a self impossed lifetime ban on buying anything from Chapters.
  • Indigo. But it's owned by Chapters.

More seriously, if you don't want to support Chapters I'd suggest getting a direct subscription to whichever mags you're interested in. Straight to your door!

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and assume you have a job... therefore you have a much greater than 1 in 35 million share of that glorious company!!
  • Magazines---"Card Player", "Bluff", "Allin", "Poker Player" all can be found in major cardrooms, most can be found at Borders or MacNally Robinson in US, or can be subscribed to. Some can be read online. Hope this helps.
  • the four i read, ranked favourite to least favourite.........
    1) Bluff (fairly new magazine, but good mix of entertaining and informative articles)
    2) Canadian Poker Player (good Canadian content, good mix as well, but not as flashy, and i admiteddly dont like the style of sme of the writers)
    3) Card Player (hard to find in Canada, alothugh can be subscribed to online, very heavy on theory and gameplay, not much "lifestyle" coverage)
    4) Player (a gambling lifestyle magazine, very slick and fun to read, but usually only a few pages on poker each issue)

    RESPECT

Cut me some slack. I'm new. :)

From a completely objective standpoint, I'm not a big fan of 'Bluff' mag. Some of the reasons why have been addressed in this thread: http://pokerforum.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=2984&page=2

As you mentioned, though, it is a new magazine. And, I have to admit, it looks damn good.
  • hey hey, aces im not knocking you or scharf for that matter, im just stressing my opinion, i still usually shell out the $7 for it every month and look forward to reading it. and who am i anyways? lol A: a punk film student/hack card player, haha
  • I know lol, I was kidding. It's tough joking around on a forum... the printed word really doesn't do justice to my dry, sardonic wit. Maybe it's because I have none.

I doubt Dave Scharf would be offended, as he is no longer involved with the magazine. And even my extremely biased point of view doesn't always love all of the articles in CPP, including sometimes my own. That being said, like you, I look forward to reading it every month as there is generally a lot of really good stuff in there.
