GBH poker

GBH casino has been trying many new things in the past few months (maybe longer?) to attract new customers. Some of these things have been great (first buy-in at a cage? awesome! except the cage takes their breaks at the same time the casino gets new dealers for their tables. and you can only buy $5 chips from them). Get some chip runners or allow your floorstaff to run them. Why do you have those $ buttons in your rack if you're not going to use them?

Why would you introduce 1/2 2/4 without being able to buy dollars from the cage? Why would you expect people can't realize that a rake of 10% on these games compared to 5% on 5/10 is completely unprofitable for anyone but the casino? Do you think it is a co-incidence these games never run?

Why do you say you've introduced a straddle when all you've done is let a blind raise gain position? A straddle raises the stakes for the pre-flop betting round. @5-10 a straddle makes the first raise to $20 and a re-raise to $30, not $15 then $20. A straddle acts as a third blind, not as a raise that gains position.

Kudos for allowing to buy the button - now please instruct your floorstaff and dealers what this means.

  • Hello

To address a couple of comments you have made in your post. First thanks for noticing that we are trying to improve things at the GBH.

With respect to the cash cage selling only $5 chips, they will sell $1 chips when a 2/4 or 4/8 games run. Since mainly higher games of 5/10 and up, are the games running, why do you need single? There is no need to sell $1 chips.

As for the 2/4 and 4/8 games having a rake of 10% to a maximum of $5, this is no different than any of the other casinos in Ontario offering 2/5 at the same percent and the same max rake, if not higher.

The straddle is new to the Ontario rules. It was originally not allowed, along with buying the button. When the changes came in, I realize that they did not cover it correctly in the rules of play set out for us. I am in the progress of having them fixed. Please be patient, these changes do not occur over night.
  • How many players have those tues night turbos been getting?
  • We started them out in August only offering them to thirty player, but where selling the out fast. So when we brought them back in September we added one more table. With most of the player thinking they where bringing them back in October we are still getting around thirty, but each Tuesday we get more and more.
  • What time do they start?
  • I had no idea the rules on straddling and buying the button had changed. How long ago did they start to permit it and do you know if the other casinos are going to follow suit?

and OP is incorrect anyways - a straddle does not raise the stakes (ie betting limits).
  • $80-7pm. $60-1pm. Every tues dee stack turbos
  • It's really great that GBH Casino is introducing new limits, new games, new features like straddling.

But how about fixing some of the major problems that exist?
ie. Allowing the supervisors to be chiprunners, I think Brantford, and Rama have chiprunners in their pokerrooms.

Long waiting times for the bigger games when there is only 1 game available and 9 on the list, which is too short to open a 2nd game because it will almost kill both games everytime. Usually a must move/feeder game option is what every big poker room does in North America.

Allowing electronic devices on the poker table like ipods and cell phones. I'm aware it's an OLG/ACGO issue. But I'm sure if you asked everyone that plays poker in the rooms across Ontario, over 95% of them would say they dont have a problem if someone uses their cell phone when they are not in the hand, or listening to music at the table. I wonder if players could just do a vote and submit it to the gaming commission for approval.
