Out of 172 people I came in

Out of 172 people I came in 38th. The top 30 spots got paid (starts at $15.00 and up). It was a $2000.00 freeroll and man did I feel like my hands were tied.

When the blinds were low I played a bit loose, feeling the other people out, etc. I was only able to win a hand or two and when the blinds started moving up, the quality of my cards started going down. It was unbelievable. 62o, 64o Q2o, 74o rinse repeat and continue to get worse. When I get these hands the flops turn out to be polar opposites. Just as the break started I made a comment about how crappy the cards were, etc.

Well, we got back from the break and what do I get dealt? AA. In late position I push all in and someone makes a comment, "72 again?". I had 2 callers, the bullets held and I was able to triple up. A couple of hands later I got KQd. A raise happens and I call. Board matches my queen but there is an ace on it too. Big stack pushes a bit hard and I figured he had 2 pair and wanted to bust me. I saw the next card (jack on the turn) and big stack pushes all in. Well, I still only had 1 pair and I put him on at least 2 pair. I folded and from then on I was back into my standard 62o, 64o Q2o, 74o rinse repeat pattern. Again, it was unbelievable. Couldn't get a decent pair of cards if my life depended on it, heck, I would have settled for two 5 connector cards... NUTHIN !!!

For my last hand I got delt AQo, I had the chance to fold and wait a revolution of the table and squeek in to position 30 or push in now and try to double/triple up. Well, I got one caller (it wasn't a big deal for ANYONE to call me). He turns over a K2o or something like that. Well, a 2 hits the board and that was all she wrote.

I guess if I had folded I might have made the bottom end of the money but I can't feel too bad playing an AQ. I'd really like to know what some of these people are eating/drinking/sleeping with that enables them to get delt high pocket pairs a lot or make the miracle cards on the river. I need some of that!
