Easier to take a bad beat live then online?

This true for anyone else? Why is that? Just because we are alone?

For example right now I was just playing a little quarter tournament on jokerstars.. about an hour or so into the tournament top 280 cash or whatever we have about 450 left.. I am able to get it all in preflop with Cowboys against Queens.

As you expect he hit a queen on the turn and I'm gone.. my exact words (to myself) were "Shit...god damnit this stupid game"... now certainly I've had worse blow ups but still.

Usually when I take a bad beat live I'm able to laugh it off sometimes I'll swear but there will be no real anger in my voice (Unless it is REALLY bad)

  • I think with on-line you are spending more time per $$$ spent than live is what makes it more tilting. An example is the Forum tourney where you are playing for approx. 60 minutes to reach the bubble when an award is up for grabs for only $5.00. bubbling that is more tilting than bubbling, say, a West Side event. It should not be, but there it is . . .

    You answered your own question.

    Its all emotional control.

    Internally, youre equally pissed.

Externally, your reaction is controlled by your brain that says, hey! theres people around and if you start throwing shit, theyll think U CRAZY.
  • i haven't suffered a bad beat yet but ill let you know...
  • It's easier to take bad beats after your 157,232nd... it's all gravy after that.

  • Live the hands are so much further apart its easy to just relax it off most of the time, online is so fast steam can rise fast, but you can also just turn it off!
