As you play, you get part of the rake back. I use FrequentFlopper on PokerNow and Aztec which gets me back 27.5%, in the form of points to be converted to gift certificates and poker goods.
Here is an example.
Total rake during the month = $1000
Average players per table = 9
1000 / 9 *0.275 = $30.55 back in rake, or 3055 flopper points
