Casino Niagara Beat

$1/$2 NL

UTG+1 raises to $15 - I am next to act with K-K - I re-raise to $45 then it gets to the button.

A little history on the button as I have played with him before. He looks like an MMA fighter and he is very aggressive. Will never fold top pair, ever. He has already re-bought twice tonight.

Anyway, he ships all in for $230, I have another $185 behind. I make a move to my chips to call so buddy next to me (original raiser) can see I want to call. I want to isolate this guy and don't need another hand reducing my chances. He folds.

We decide to flip our hands and button has 3-3

THEN HE FLOPS A *&&&^%$)#)#@!!! 3

I don't catch up.

I guess you live for the fishes and can die by the fishes.

    This
  • Funny thing about 1/2 live. Its almost like there's not enough room for good play and u have to get lucky

Problem is with live vs online, neg variance is even more obvious since you see so many fewer hands, on the other hand when variance is on your side the upside is also much more obvious. It's really no different over the same number of hands, say 1 mill +.

I'd prob do the opposite of that if I have Kings, I want MOAR all-in action from worse hands.
  • I can't complain too much. Positive variance was on my side on Thursday night. This was a mnor set back, taking the entire weekend into account.
  • I dont get why we dont want another caller here?

Thats more disturbing than ur bad beat story.

+1. This game sounds super juicy. Hopefully you got it back and then some after the beat.

My reasoning is this: Even if I know villain has 3-3, and I can put other player on A-rag (AJ, AT, etc...) then I go from an 80% favourite to only a 54% favourite.

I understand your reasoning but this is cash, not a tournament. 54% to triple up is very +ev. You are giving up significant ev to reduce variance. I don't think that is smart for cash play.

I understand what you guys are saying and normally I would happily take 54% to triple my money....... WTF was I saying ?? That was bad, nvm. Thanks for the slap upside the head.

lol, it's amazing what a little runbad does to one thought processes... I only say that cuz I have thought the same way before... gun shy, some would say. :)
  • Don't listen to these guys...in fact next time fold the kings. You never lose when you fold.

this gentleman means "you cant win if you fold!"
these things happen and thats poker....as for 1/2 there is little skill there, more less people looking to gamble at the casino level!

Totally agree. U can't fold kings in that spot. Loose player could be shoving anything worse than kings. 3.5/1 pre flop to win. Ill take those odds anyday:err:

The conversation wasnt about folding. Obv that is never happening.

The conversation is about not wanting multiple callers.
  • You guys didn't see just a little sarcasm in 800's post?
