Winning Low Limit Hold'em

Has any one read this book? Is it any good? What about Small stakes hold em: Winning big with expert play. Wich book is better? Any information would be appreciated.

  • I think both of these books are excellent.

The Lee Jones book would be best for beginning to intermediate low-limit players, and SSH is more appropriate for advanced low-limit players.

  • I think that was a great first book to read. If you are playing low limit at Party you can't go wrong following Jones' advice. No nonsense approach as other players aren't paying attention to what you are doing anyway. Just yesterday I flopped a set and then hit the boat on the turn at Party .50/1.00 and I just kept firing on all streets. Got called to the river by some joker with 8 high. Not much point in being tricky and that's his point throughout. He said nice hand and I just said thank you....and I meant it.
  • I can only comment on Lee Jone's book, as I've not read the other. WLLHM in my opinion is one of the very best books on holdem. In fact, I believe it has all the concepts in Holdem For Advanced Players. It's done in a short easy to understand manner. My book is almost worn out!

  • Both are excellent. The Jones book is more basic but has lots of good advice. The Miller book may be the best poker book I've read. Ton's of stuff to think about. Jones' book is more of a how to while the Miller book is 'what you should be thinking'.

Incidentally, I've found that the starting hands requirements in Hilger's book: Internet Texas Hold'em to be excellent guidelines for low limit online play.

  • I've read the Lee Jones book. Very informative and gives some basic strategies that you should not be without.
